Preface

War.

War never changes.

When atomic fire consumed the earth, those who survived did so in great, underground vaults. When they opened, their inhabitants set out across ruins of the old world to build new societies, establish new villages, forming tribes.

Many decades has passed, what had been the American southwest united beneath the flag of the New California Republic, dedicated to old-world values of democracy and the rule of law. As the Republic grew, so did its needs. Scouts spread east, seeking territory and wealth, in the dry and merciless expanse of the Mojave Desert.

Instead, they found nothing except war. With the Caesar's Legion, an army of slavers that united under the banner of a single man. The two factions vied for control of the Hoover Dam, which supplied the Mojave with electricity.

It has been a decade now, and things have changed. None of the two gained control of the Dam. A mysterious figure, dubbed the Courier, had took over New Vegas and deposed of its former master. With their army of military-grade securitrons, the Courier easily seized the Hoover Dam.

Now, the Caesar's Legion is but a husk of its old self, and the NCR had retreated back to the wasteland to die a slow death.

You are a tribesman from the Divide, bound by oath to the Bay Twelve, sent to go to the New Vegas Strip and learn of its mysterious overlord. What seemed like a simple reconnaissance job has taken a turn…for the stupid.



This is a jokish RTD inspired by Bay12 Goes Vegas. It's set in the world of Fallout, but you don't really have to know the lore. You are encouraged to base your character on yourself, except that you have grown in the Vault 84712, where everyone gets laptops and Wifi.

Right let's do this. All rolls are d6 with bonuses from skills/stats. Rolling a six on the dice results in overshoot, with any bonuses increasing the severity. Rolling a number lower than six and having bonuses raise it to six or above does NOT result in overshoot.

Description: You aren't Charles Atlas, but this'll do.
Effect: Permanently increase a stat by 1.

The Mojave Wasteland.

Now that you're here, it doesn't seem quite as magical. Well, dangerous maybe, but your little expedition group hasn't run into any intelligent cazadores, any gang of armed children, horses, or Belgians. What you met, however, were the usual things you would expect anywhere else in good 'ol America. That Nightkin attack wasn't very nice and you all were getting to know Bob when he got his head bashed in by a supermutant.

Oh well, 7 of you are alive, and that's all that matters. It's just like in Dwarf Fortress, except that you aren't starting any new settlements. Instead, you're heading for the mountainhome.

They say that the New Vegas Strip glow in the night like a fallen star, but now in the morning it just look like a gigantic hunk of metal and concrete, out of place in the desert. While everything else, the sky, the mutant cacti, and the buildings in that village you looted and pillaged, were yellow and drear, the buildings around New Vegas is grey and black. Some colors on the unpowered neon lights spied beyond the composite walls.

It's nothing like the Vault.

Your group walked through ruined buildings towards New Vegas, but found your way blocked by four strange people in furs. The leader has a Brahmin skull on her head. And a plasma rifle.

End of the line, you little bastards! Now pay the toll!
