Yes, mages should be able to spend 2 mana to increase their spell's Zap roll by 1.
Yes, mages should be able to spend 3 mana to increase their spell's Zap roll by 1.
Yes, mages should be able to spend 3 mana to increase their spell's Zap roll by 1, but doing this provokes a Luck roll: on a roll of 2 or less, the spell loses one Awk.
No, this is a very bad idea.
No, this is a somewhat bad idea, I have my own ideas. (Post in thread).

((Mm... that might be a pain to redact. Note that he kicked you in the leg, however. It seems reasonable to me that that distracted you and you let go as a result. If that doesn't seem reasonable to you I could work something out...))

((You mean the kick that had no effect? While I respect that you are the GM and this is your game to run however you want, I'm a bit annoyed that I seem to be getting the short end of the stick when it comes to random shenanigans that seem to be made up on the fly, like me getting tingles and penalties from burns while the guy who burned his hands off and should be in serious pain or going into shock gets no penalties. Even if he was going into shock, it should have at least distracted him or something. While I understand the reason for my penalties, the fact that my opponent seems to be getting no penalties from serious damage is making me feel like I'm being specifically targeted.))

((He got high willpower. Hm. Though you might want to note the only injuries I've seen Azer get are his hands removed and some moderate burns. As you might imagine, if you've got moderate burns it's going to be easier to get heavy burns and whatnot. My general rules for this game are common sense. Note that if you want to inflict penalties, a targeted attack rather than "death burn hug" may be a good idea. There's no reason I wouldn't allow tendon slashes.

In conclusion, I'm not consciously targeting you for death. It's an RTD, things go where they will. I'll try to be less biased in the future, however. In the future, if you have any logical objections, let me know.))

Well that was unfortunate. Feel like things are gonna go downhill really quickly now.

((Fair enough. So high willpower negates the necessity to roll for distracting pain? Anyways, back to the kick. He got a 0 and I got a 1. Those are both terrible results, but I fail to see how it would result in him doing anything more than possibly just rubbing my knee with his foot. I'm still not sure how that would have distracted me enough for him to get away, since I won the roll. By him running away, it seems it defeated the whole purpose of me stating to keep hugging, and maybe headbutt, noting that hanging on to him was a priority.))

((I ticled you.

Seriously though, as far as I care it can be retconed as if last turn never happened. Do a str roll, if I win, no retcon needed. If I lose, that's sad but you get to cut a part off and redo it. Also, when it comes to burns, medium burns hurt far more than heavy burns, since heavy includes nerve endings and then you don't feel a thing.))

The point of keeping the golems on fire isn't for the value of fire as a weapon. It's more to keep the golems functioning at a reasonable speed.

Headbut Drake back. If he releases me, run to the potions and smash potion of major healing on my arm stumps.

Turn Ten: Go on, ignore the forgotten beast.

INIT
Avery(5+1=6)
Person(5+1=6)
Weremouse(6)
...NO.
Avery(2+1=3)
Person(2+1=3)
Weremouse(2)
Random.org taunts me. Doover.
Avery(3+1=4)
Person(1+1=2)
Weremouse(6)
(6)

The weremouse doth skree, slicing at Avery again. (1vs.6+1=7) The weremouse notices glass shards on its head. (5-1=4vs.1) The weremouse is now stunned, and grabbed.

Then Avery spins round and throws the weremouse at Person. ((Do you have any idea how many times autocorrect tried to turn weremouse into warehouse?))

(3+2(good grab/leverage from bad mouse rolls)-1=4) The weremouse flies over the table, somewhat weakly, but flies towards Person nonetheless. (6-1=5vs.5+1-1=5) Person's acrobatics prevail yet again. The weremouse lands at Person's feet.

Person notices Avery just grabbed two cups of alcohol. One is drunk(t 5, w 2) and the other is thrown at Person. (2vs.6-1=5) Person catches the mug in mid-air. Avery then collapses to the ground, resisting the effects but not the mind waves. (-2 to Awk next turn)

Person drinks the sunshine... it tastes so good...

Random Event(1) really. The door shakes. Then collapses. There appears to be (4) a one-eyed giant snake with deadly spittle outside the door. Skree.

Spoiler: Avery (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Person (click to show/hide)

I rolled luck for a good reason. Drinking a potion works. In media, do characters usually smash potions to gain the effect?

This is my new occ voice. How much alcohol got on person from the cup? Also who is closer to the forgotten beast?
Avery will stand up and if he is farther from the forgotten beast then Person, he will attempt to find a very reflective object that he can hold, after this he will cast fire gatling missile or whatever it is at Person. If he is closer to the beast then Person, run from it till that is no longer the case, and then he look for any armor just sitting around for who knows why.

((Thanks, FoU))

Bite his throat out. If he gets away, run to the potions and use a healing one. Grab and chug alcohol on the way.

((My caracters capabilities of uncorking a potion are rather limited due to lack of hands at the moment. The potions are corked, right?))
