Yes, mages should be able to spend 2 mana to increase their spell's Zap roll by 1.

Sample Turn Four: Random Event Potency Intensifies

INIT:
Drake(5+2=7)
Mage(6)
Ecco(3+2=5)
Cain(5+1=6...)

Drake is the first to act. Despite the clear danger from Cain, he goes after Mage instead.

Zap(5+3=8)
Awk(1+1=2)

The breath, however powerful, blows up in his mouth. Tougha(1+3=4vs.5) Will(5) Incredibly, he expels the frosty explosion at Mage!

Mage is awestricken, but dodges anyway. (3vs.2) The explosion blasts the ground next to Mage, surprising him but- oh wait, that was a rather large explosion. Mage was knocked to the ground, but is otherwise unharmed.

Mage and Cain act at the same time, each launching an attack.

Zap(3+1=4)
Awk(3+2=5)

A Beard Flail appears in Mage's hand and is launched at ... who is this Beirus? A nickname for Drake? Drake, then. At the same time, Cain targets (1:Drake) also.

Zap(1+4=5)
Awk(4+2=6)

A flurry of Aether Remnants appear from Cain's hands and are launched at Drake.

(2+1=3vs.5) Drake sidesteps, and the Beard Flail lands without success. Then he notices the Remnants (5), reacting without penalty. (4+1=5vs.2) The Remnants hit! (4+2=6vs.4) Like a storm of firecrackers, the Remnants detonate. (6) Drake snorts. The Remnants have done nothing beyond a few scorch marks to Drake's scales.

DJ Ecco is the last to act, targeting Cain with his Laser Canon in D. (now charging, will fire next turn)

Random Event: (1... now the events start pouring in.) (crit fail: (1 really?))

"Hello, Cain. You have the option of surrendering before I blow this arena to smithereens. But of course you won't do that."

Why dont you use all of the arenas? Exept the blank disk, and necromancer tower maybe...how do you fight in a tower? Ok i'm dumb.

Tower fighting doesn't seem all that complex. As far as I can tell, it's a normal fight, but with multiple floors. You might also have to watch out for furniture, zombies, and artifacts.


The necromancer's tower and potion shop could be really neat, assuming you can actually do something with the items scattered around. Maybe you could allow people to find interesting potions/scrolls without background checks.

Luck rolls will be used. (1) You take the potion. Touching it causes it to explode, showering you in poison gas... well that's an extreme... so it would only happen on double ones. I think a good system for luck is the critfail/critluck , where if you get a 1 or 6, another roll is made to determine the potency.

(6) You take the potion, and it suddenly zooms at your mouth, forcing you to chug it. (6) You are now a Revenant of the Eternal Frostfire. Gain +2 Zap and +1 Awk, and +2 Tougha and Stronga. Gain immortality and Frostfire Blast, Frostfire Elemental Minion, Frostfire Ward. (well... maybe not that much...)

Sample Turn Five: Beam Roulette

INIT:
Drake(5(just realized drake's getting an incorrect init bonus despite his species))
Mage(6)
Ecco(6+2=8)
Cain(2+1=3)
Oric(3)

Ecco fires the Laser Canon in D!

Zap(2+3=5)
Awk(2+2=4)

That could have been worse.

(6vs.5+1) (2-2vs.6+3) The Canon nicks Cain. He is unfazed.

Mage stands up, readying his cancel spell, and slinging his flail at Drake.

(3vs.2) (3vs.2) (4) A glancing blow, no damage.

Drake grunts, grabbing another bottle and chugging it. Mana refill get!

Zap(1+4=5)
Awk(6)

Bam! (+1 to Tougha, Stronga, and Quicka, +1 Awk for Ender Frostfire Breath, next two turns)

Zap(6+4=10-1=9)
Awk(1-1+1)

(5) That could have gone worse. But even with that roll, he's going to be stunned. (on a four or three, unconsciousness, a two, mortal wound, a 1... death) (now stunned, big time(next two turns)(must make will roll to act))

Mage decides to cancel Drake's Enhancement spell.

Zap(3+1=4)
Awk(2+2=4)
(duration cut in half, now only one turn)

Oric chuckles as Cain laughs. Then they start fighting each other.

Cain prepares his Antithesis.

Zap(2+4=6)
Awk(1+2=3)

Not as good as normal, but still quite potent.

Oric fires off an Awesome Palm Beam!

Zap(6+6=12 what have I done)
Awk(6+3=9)

Palm Beam? More like... Palm Kamehameha! (1+4=5vs.2+3=5) The Beam strikes the Antithesis, and is blasted in several directions! (target random players:3(ecco),4(cain))
(1vs.1+2=3) Ecco sidesteps, causing the beam to miss him.
(4vs.6+1) Cain dodges behind his Antithesis, reflecting the beam once again! (target random(6:null)) The beam strikes the alcohol crate. (5) It remains mostly intact.

Random Event (6)... a sword appears, falling into the center of the alcohol crate. It looks magical.

Since I ought be right by the booze and sword, grab the sword. Hit Mage with breath, or the sword if he comes close.

Run to get the sword and a booze. Knock the sword out of Drake's hand with my beard flail if he's holding it, otherwise flail his head. Drink the booze.

Sample Turn Six: Mage Pinball

INIT:
Drake(6+1=7)
Mage(4)
Ecco(3+2=5)
Cain(1+1=2)
Oric(5)

Drake is the first to act ,(5), breaking free of his stunning. He then grabs the sword, preparing to fight Mage.

Ecco and Oric act at the same time, in agreement for once.

Ecco casts Random Music Magic!

Zap(4+2=6)
Awk(3+1=4)
(2)

Cascades of confetti fall from the sky, falling towards Cain.

Then Oric casts Pillar of Triumph.

Zap(4+6=10)
Awk(1+2=3)

(3-1(low awk, high power)vs.2+1=3) Cain barely rolls out of the way before an immense pillar of white light erupts from the ground under him.

Mage(4) dashes to the crate, grabbing a booze, and swinging his Flail at Drake.

(4+1-2=3vs.1) (6) Mage nearly bashes himself on the head with his Flail, but avoids that fate- instead accidentally swinging at (2) Cain.

(4vs.6+1=7) (cain reaction: 6) Cain grabs the Flail in mid-swing and pulls Mage by it, launching him at Oric.

(1+2=3(yes, he uses Stronga for this.)vs.3) (6 for hit)

(2+2=4vs.5+4=9) Mage hits Oric. Oric slams Mage into the ground. (6+3=9vs.6) That could have been worse. (5) Mage is remarkably intact, other than being stunned heavily. (heavy stunning for one turn: must roll 6 or higher for will to act, -2 to dodge.)

Random Event: (2) Thank goodness.
Sword Luck: (5) New strength enters Drake. And power... so much power... (gained 5 points max mana, +2 Stronga, as long as you wield the sword.) As he fades to human, he feels an odd presence at the back of his mind. It's not doing anything... for now...

Mage chugs booze, trying to dull the pain. It's not helping.

Cain laughs, proceeding to charge his Ragnarok Crosshatch.
