The farms, dining hall, and food stockpiles have all been moved to their final locations, and work on the noble/administrative level continues. Not gonna bring the king until it's all ready.

The catacombs are being cleared of stone, and I've finalized the housing planning. Every room will have a clear glass wall  overlooking the central courtyard.

More possessions of late. But I've got the important stuff (Legendary metalworkers, carpenters, masons, glassmakers and miners) taken care of, so it's not as critical.

Orcs and goblin sieges continue to throw themselves against my military. I've stopped using marksdwarves on occasion, just letting the melee specialists take care of it. I often watch from a z-level above, watching sudden explosions of entrails and limbs flying up and landing on the trees.

The water system is a failure. However, the lake has sufficient supplies to treat any wounded, and the cistern has dried up, so reworking is possible. Considering adding a 9zlevel waterfall. That'll show those damn elves that we appreciate beauty!

To Do:
Rework water systems; place pump tower inside cistern. Build Waterfall (will look nice emerging from the king's garden).
Start digging non-noble residences and Jail facilities.
Put Clear glass windows into mass production (need more pearlash)
Move Magma workshop space
Improve industry stockpiles
Continue work on the roof (need more rock blocks)
Piss off elves in the name of clearing land for wall construction
Excavate soil layers
Transfer Nobles/administrators to new quarters
Continue grizzly/black bear/giant leopard breeding program (make trainable and [CAN_LEARN])

The Legendary Rooms near completion, as do the forges. I plan on making a waterfall in my King's palace, along with waterproofing the original rainmaker.

I've been getting all my workshops organized. So, far they've just been a jumbled mess. Also raised the popcap, so now more dwarfs should show up.

And thus did the dream of dwarven antigravity fade away, not with a massive explosion or a flood of magma, but with a whimper.

I'm going to be depressed all day now.

Welp, I'm like 2-3 years into a new fortress, but my created wealth was very, very low for that amount of time.  There were two reasons.  First, I'm trying to build a huge tower-cap farm.  There aren't any other trees on the map.  The wood shortage got so intense that I turned off immigration and still only had about half the number of beds I needed.  I'm making barrels (and a few bins) from silver and tin to avoid using wood.  THEN I struck HFS by accident.
HFS Stuff:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

So then my armorer goes Fey.  Awesome, I realize.  He made a set of greaves that took my created wealth from 200,000 to 2,000,000.  An order of fucking magnitude.

All this has left me very vulnerable to goblin ambushes, which have consistently taken 1-3 dwarves per pair of ambush groups, including a brace of archers, a gem setter, several peasant haulers, and all three of my stonecrafters at one point.

Edit: I just noticed that all the Fun has left me completely out of booze.

What would you do if seven small, beared men marched into your home and started to dig out a city in your basement?

Not directly a what's happening in your fort, but the worldgen RNG seems to be hating me tonight as I'm using the ultrafinder, but its churning out more rejects than it usually does.

I'd run it overnight, but sometimes the ultrafinder gets stuck and I don't want to wake up to find that it only went through two or it got stuck right after I started.

I'm starting on a MP known as... THE SHAGGERTOOTH FORTRESS~~~!
yea, I know, awesome name... (not)
Anyway, I'm making it totally able to be lived in without any outside help by adding a fishing grate room, farm basement, and Giant Eagle watching towers, to hold them back...
Those things are scary man! They're so bad I need to defend from them more than I do the goblin menaces, and the elves together, for that I'm making 4 small forts packed with men to kill any goblins that get stupid all over the map. I'm pretty much basing in defence too hold back casualtys of my hard working civilians nobles.

Started carving out a big fancy set of rooms. I'm miles away from getting a king, but it can't hurt to have the space ready.

Getting into a serious bed shortage; migrants just keep coming and coming, despite "the danger" (one previous mayor throwing a tantrum, destroying his own chair and office door, and accidentally killing someone). Maybe I should make "The Danger" his nickname?

Hah! Wow, that's pretty crazy there. Either name him that or Grumples McAngerpants.

I've been stating a new Play-Along in hopes of getting some friends into the game for the first time. I've had a couple funny things happen, namely a merchant getting angry because I didn't want to trade with them, who then proceeded to leave and punch some camels to death.

The fortress I've been nattering on about.

At this point, with the discovery that I screwed up in the concept (will be dang-nigh impossible to do the farming as I'd intended), I'm now considering making the center of the caldera into an aquarium/panopticon.

Which makes for all kinds of interesting possibilities (ie, central clear glass staircase, with clear glass 'bubble pods'), provided I can get enough pearlash. Sorry, elves, but I'll be deforesting your precious ...er, forests, for the next fifty years. Don't worry. I'll burn them all to a fine powder and make them into something worth looking at.

Right then, The Danger Bustflight is now lying in bed with a red upper-body wound and a broken arm. Either the sheriff was a bit overzealous or he picked up the injuries during the tantrum. He won't be happy about having a 301-day jail sentence to get through once he's healed. :|

On closer inspection, the dwarf he accidentally killed was his only friend. Poor sod. :-\

Also, one of my stoneworkers just got a burst of inspiration in the middle of making a door. For some reason she abandoned the mason's workshop she was using and booted my cabinet-maker out of the other one.

Just got an ambush. They took down 3 unprotected haulers, a marksdwarf (They had bows), and one of my wrestlers. The other wrestler in my squad just proved himself to be an amazing badass. He killed three of the goblins, got two bolts stuck him, and shrugged it off. He had light yellow wounds. When he got back down into the fort, he simply wanked out the two bolts and dumped them in the food stockpile.

He also picked up an artifact shield, so he's going to be an amazing badass from now on.

Shades of Alexander the Great!

(He killed his friend Cleitus the Black... who had earlier saved his life at Granicus... during a drunken argument)

I like to dig out my magma pipes so they're nice and square and fit in with the rest of my floorplan. As such, I've drained the pipe with screw pumps and have spent the last five years mining it out to the correct shape, setting a sizeable amount of obsidian aside in the process. This left me with a stack of square rooms with irregular-sized holes in the floor.

I just collapsed the topmost layer in a controlled cave-in, which punched through fifty-odd z-levels to the bottom layer, saving me a whole lot of tiresome tile-by-tile channel-digging and related accidental cave-in casualties. The plume of lava mist reached forty z-levels back up the pipe, but fortunately I'd already made certain to evacuate all dorfs from the vicinity.

The only fatality was the Magma Man who I couldn't lure out into a cage trap, and was lurking right at the bottom of the pipe when it all fell down.
