Yes, if by "caravan" you mean "the love train".

Years ago when I moved agriculture downstairs, I disassembled all the looms and clothiers shops. Everyone's clothes are wearing out now, so it's time to get the clothing industry running again. I'm making hemp socks, shows, trousers, cloaks, hoods, mittens and togas for everyone - togas because they provide better coverage than tunics while also being more valuable and I'm not into having my male dwarfs wear dresses.

The latest strange mood produced a garniterite mug. So this brings the number of drinking items in my fortress up to a grand total of.......2, because that artifact wooden cup is still kicking around. Geez, I really need to stop procrastinating on my tavern....

a gelder got so mangled (despite rudimentary membership of a xbow squad of reservists) by a VCC that he lost his right arm and apparently can't sufficiently use his left arm to ... eat. Hungry and dehydrated he is.

I had set up a ballista in the hallway leading up to my fort's first area.

I set it to "fire at will", and the siege operator immedietly fired at... something.

A couple of people were bruised apparently (I'd used a wooden arrow, after all), but no other injuries occured. I don't think the dwarves even went to the hospital.

I'm working on smoothing the halls, and adding bedrooms.

I'm also wondering about adding a couple of civillians to a squad so I can give them a few years of military training, and then switch out the civs (for the purposes of cross-training).

Perhaps his religion forbids eating with the same hand he uses to geld and wipe.

But don't you have any free buckets, or a water zone? There should be at least someone bringing him water, you'd think. I also seem to remember that even a dwarf who lost both arms can still drink from a barrel. But perhaps the drinking from mugs addition has changed that.

the gelder DID hold a mug. But remained fairly firmly rooted in place outside. I think he eventually 'fled' a bit up the stairs and snuffed it. He was actually stuck in a  'drink' task, maybe that's why he didn't get water. Speaking of, I may have too many water features. The fishing pond next to the river had at one point emptied itself (kinda hot climate I guess)  so I'd had it running continuously. A goblin, a dwarf and one of my humans fell in. In an attempt to save mine I basically opened my fort to flooding because I didn't have a real emptying mechanism in place, like an eedjit.  The Dwarf actually had the presence of mind to use the staircase out, but I guess the goblins and the human were too far away. Oh well. I scummed it again. :b

Look, I'm not surprised to be getting FBs, I've met the requirements for them for over a decade. I'm just confused as to why after not getting any for a decade they seem to be coming once every season now.

yep, I got a king too.

Also in replaying the same siege over and over I've come to the conclusion that not goblins but water is the Dwarf's natural enemy and they are far too prone to dodge into it and drown hella dead. Ludicrous.

Fort's currently in a state of limbo as I wait for the exported wealth bug to be fixed/42.06 to be released. I have underground structures that building a more creative trapline would jeopardize, I don't trust my military to fend off the clowncar, and I also don't trust the RNG to not suddenly throw a dusting FB made of steel at me.

The blue jade skink was defeated by a single axedwarf, who gained a cool title. Haven't gotten the other one to path into the fort yet.

The goblins were expected to come next spring or summer, but they came this autumn instead. I'm sending out my Goblinslayers to get this over quickly. Here's to hoping I still get my caravan...

Also, 'hunger for warm blood' doesn't sound particularly terrible (in spite of the long name). Just a biter, I guess? No webs, blasts of long-term poison, fire or any combination of the above :P

The axedwarfs were tied up slaying goblins, but fortunately the FB was killed by civilians......though tragically not before taking the left leg of my greatest potential scholar. I really hope the doctors can save him (they've already sutured him, so the odds look good). On the bright side, at least the caravan showed up.

On an unrelated note, I really need to do some more exploratory mining. I have a plan to move the greenhouses down 21 levels, but I want to do the roofs in crystal glass this time and this means I need 200 blocks. I currently have only 20 blocks and 83 rough rock crystals.

OH ARMOK, THAT OTHER FB FINALLY FOUND THE STAIRCASE! GO, AXEDWARFS, GO!

*PHEW* They got that one too. Man, if I'd known that I'd be attacked by so many FBs when I founded the fort, I'd have named it "Monstergrave", or at least something else that suggests "THIS IS WHERE FORGOTTEN BEASTS GO TO DIE" more than "Tradegray" does.

If memory serves or i've just got my facts disillusioned, doesn't it additionally also mean that it can sense dwarves outside of visual range? (greater and faster direct distance travelled in beelining towards them instead of slowly navigating?)
