Elves can bring instrument parts made from divine metals for some reason.  They're really expensive too, but you can't melt them back down at a smelter.

Huh.

Well, the merchant's name was Cacame; maybe I've had a visit from the legend himself, bringing some of his spoils to show off.

The current theory for elven instruments using divine silk is that, since most elven civs don't have access to silk, when the game generates goods which require silk bits for them, it grabs a random(?) silk material to meet the requirement. You'll also see elven instruments with forgotten beast silk on occasion.

They brought me a breeding pair of giant jumping spiders before, and have brought me spiders before as well. They shouldn't need to grab a random silk material, they just need to use the silk sources they have. But I guess that's just not how it is.

"The armorer punches the human hammerman in the throat with her left hand and the injured part explodes into gore"

This was my first ever bar-fight. My armorer is a 14 year old girl.

Mecenaries will not pick fights i dwarven taverns any more i guess.

I've got some elves in my trade depot right now with a couple of divine material instrument parts. Neither of which have "silk" in the material names. One is a "motes of light atara strings", described as "This is a motes of light atara strings. It is made from motes of light cloth". The other is "this is a flickering light eyi bag. It is made from flickering light cloth cloth." (sic)

They're 9000 each. Hey cochramd, you want to make some high value instruments? I got some parts for you right here. :)

I also bought an instrument from them with forgotten beast silk strings. It wasn't any more expensive than the rest of the instruments they were peddling, but I bought it anyways. I mean, who wouldn't want to play an instrument with forgotten beast silk strings?

They didn't say which beast the silk was from. I guess they forgot.

Have them killed. Nothing solves a problem quite as effectively as simply having it killed.

Metalworking of any kind builds up serious muscle.

The giant olms are having another population explosion; it's time to slaughter the beasts, but first I have to set up my new butcher shops and tanneries downstairs.

Dwarves can't assemble elf instruments. Besides, I'm under the impression that instrument quality affects how enjoyable a performance is, and even if I'm wrong....meh.

Goblin Poet started a quick barfight, but apparently got hit in the guts or something because the poet started wretching and vomiting for a while in the combat logs.

I think my tavern may be a bit too crowded, so I'm planning to add a second dining room. Not sure where to put it (Probably on the same floor/z-level) but I know that somethings gotta give at some point.

A troll vampire is beating a dwarf child to death with a dress and a sock.

How delightful.

I am not kidding. That is what is happening. A detail of a grander defeat, but it is happening.

And the dwarf it killed is named Urist. That's just too perfect.

It also ties in with completely intentional 'research'  on weaponizing temples. It's no good. But two of the trolls were cursed for toppling statues. I guess that's an advantage to making multiple single-deity temples (along with the bug I've seen mentioned of Dwarfs only praying to one of multiple deities when in the unfocused temples)

Ever feel like you'd another 300 dwarfs to get anything done in good time because everybody is busy hauling? That's how I feel now trying to move agriculture downstairs at 5 FPS.

More dwarves won't solve your problem if your problem is that, though.

Just started another fort. Embarked, started digging. To my surprise, cave moss is growing as soon as I dig out the first layer of soil. Didn't breach caverns yet. Wtf?
