I just found out that I have an aunt - niece relationship in my fort. Apparently, one of my immigrant married couples brought along a sister of the husband. I've had aunts before, in generation breeding forts, but never from immigrants yet. Just shows how much alive the world is.

Guys.

Guys.

Remember that necromancer wife I posted about earlier?

Now, while I was marvelling at the fact that the necromancer wife was added to the bedroom's "Current Owner" list, I noticed something.

Specifically, if you'll remember the previous post, the necromancer wife was a Dwarf Ranger necromancer. And her husband was a Tunneler.

That's right: both of the necromancers I've captured are the wives of fortress members. Both of them.

The goblins sent another siege; not even 60 of them! Insult after insult! But hey, I'm alive and uninjured as is every one fo my dwarfs, which is far more than I can say for most of the invaders. I've got fair-sized populations of cave crocodiles, giant olms and giant toads now, and all the clothing and quires I could ever want. Well, maybe not all the ones I'll ever want, but enough for the foreseeable future.

I Have began constructing a large, automated railway to bring marble from near the bottom of my first carven(about z-50) to my smelters and forges 40z levels higher. As i was doing this i was attacked by another necromancer siege, which seem to come like clockwork. Once again it was effortlessly caged, and this time with no deaths and i even caught the necromancer. At the current rate of progress by the time this fort is finished i will have half the dead humans and elves locked up in cages at my fort.

The aquifer was 9 freaking layers deep.  Nine!  It took me 2 years and a season.  I don't even know what to do with my fort after that.  I lazily QSP'd some things while my mind was numb from the repetitive work.

So I have a goblin king eh?  Well I might just have to make a remedy for that.  PREPARE THE MAGMA!!!  We will lure this interloper to his death.
Check Legends. You never know. Imagine if Cacame's player had killed him before learning more about his backstory!

I did, and I couldn't find anything about this goblin's backstory.  The reign of goblins in my civilization started in year 42 of my civ, when a goblin that had started operating as a mercenary out of one of my early towns was crowned queen.  It occurred just after the previous dwarven king was killed by a forgotten beast that had been slowly whittling down the town's population.  The strange thing is though, I couldn't find anything in the history previous to this that would have led to some goblins being assimilated into my civ.  No wars or anything, just founding of new towns and forgotten beast attacks.  And its not like my civ is dead or dying at this point, as there are still many dwaves in the nobility, just not king or queen.

I have reclaimed a fort which was taken by goblins. My dwarves came wielding maces with helms of bronze and breastplates of copper. Those brave seven expected to crush the skulls of many foul goblins. Instead as they arrived they heard horrifying scream the likes of which have never touched their ears. They know no what what lurks below. But they know they came to reclaim WildnessFlag and Armok willing they will do so.

**edit 1**
The clowns are coming up from the circus killing the scout who stumbled upon a group of gblins while he was searching for the underground part of the fortress. The clowns are now entertaining the goblins, while numerous goblin barons are coming from off screen to party in the still existing taver that I reclaimed the fort with. My surviving 5 dorfs will party it up in the tavern with the nobility while waiting for the fun to get here.

**edit 2**
A goblin Queen showed up! I hope Her Majesty brought some guards with her. That crossbow is a little underpowered.

**edit 3**
Turns out i can tell the goblin nobilty where to go using meeting zones and locations. Lets hope 40~ goblins can take 22 clowns.

I was wondering why I hadn't seen any elven caravan or diplomat the previous year, and now in late spring, again they didn't come, even though I heard the voice of the elf diplomat warning me for the first time about trees, 2 years ago, after being raised to nobility.

So I went into the civ screen.
Go to the elf page.
Press tab.

exports: terror
offerings: vengeance

So apparently the elves didn't feel like tree mandating me at all this fort, but decided to declare war right away.

Bring it on, pointy eared cannibals!

So I've been cross training all my miners in engraving. Apart from politics and fort foundings, the favorite thing that my dwarfs like to make engravings, statues and figurines of is this one time an elf tamed some giant peregrine falcons 15 years before the fort was founded.

I've decided to let the crocs lay their eggs, and the toads and olms somehow gave birth plenty of times behind my back without me ever noticing.

Has anyone else problems with imported glass? I've ordered some glass instruments built, but whenever I look in the glass furnace all I see are empty bags and green glass instruments, and I know for a fact that I've got clear and crystal glass sitting in the trade depot.

I think the glass sitting in the depot is raw glass gems. You can't make anything with but you can cut it like gems and then encrust it.
To make clear or crystal glass objects you need to have pearlash/ rock crystal and sandbags.

So where do the bags figure into all of this then? Is my glassworker taking sand and making it directly into a finished glass instrument?

*Edit: I watched for a while, and that is exactly what seems to be happening.

Yeah, that's how the glass industry works.  They take sand, melt it, shape it, and cool it.

When I first read that I thought you had some form of terrifying incest going on.
