Despite i had an auto-proclamed king living in there since a few year, my fortress was only considered a duchy (i had a duke) so far .
But i noticed in the n(oble) screen at the "become the capitol" screen that i didn't had the "offerings" condition met , so last caravan i offered enough to get past it.

After the year went, instead of the caravan coming, i got the message making it official

I have now an outpost liaison living here too, the guy has lots of room requirement, i guess he must think he's a noble.
Didn't cleaned the corpses of the last siege to my atom smasher fast enough, as the guy has a lot of "horrified to have seen X die" message when they detect a corpse.
I hope he's not going to become depressed like a soap maker did.

Decided to make a water cistern to store water in for winters, but it seems the dwarfs getting the water are all cave adapted and they vomit all over the cistern tainting the water. To counter this I send all my dwarfs outside to get used to the sun.
Then a minotaur decides to come on map when everyone is outside. I've never seen one before so I was a bit worried, but my unarmoured militia was able to take it out with only one wrestler lost.

Now I've filled the pond to about 4/7 depth, and I have an issue with all my tavern guests wanting to hang out in there. Some have been there for over a year. They have ramps so they can get out but they don't seem to want to move or do anything really.

Yeah im quoting an older post, but i do so love minotaurs, so.

Minotaurs are extremely skilled in ALL combat arts, including misc. object user. Sometimes they die instantly and sometimes they go on a rampage, ripping the *dog leather robe* right off of a dwarf and then putting said robe through the skull of every dwarf nearby. Yup. Robes are deadly in the hands (paws? Hooves?) of a minotaur.

My current fort is situated in an odd spot so i think im gonna find a better spot and undertake a monastery challengr, build a giant glorious stone aboveground monastery which focuses on libraries, temples, and selling booze to obtain needed objects. Fortress monastery!

PS: Seriously, you must have, like, super-getting-lost skills. You could go missing in a straight corridor and impale yourself on flat ground if I don't tell you where to go.

welp my fort fell to one goblin spear man, the rest of his friends were killed right off the bat and hten it lead to a show down between him and my sword dwarf in adamantine, The swordsdwarf cut off his legs and liver before getting stabbed through the eye and killed. The spear man bleed out but it was too late. My uber depressed dwarves went on tantrums and the whole fort just crumbled to dust.

How do taverns work? I have been setting them up, but my Tavern Keeper does nothing besides various socialise stuff.

Protip: statues cannot be made out of wood unless they're artifacts. If you see what appears to be a wooden statue outside your fort and it's not an artifact, destroy it immediately.

Mine dose that most of the time as well. I caught him once doing a serve beverage job or something after placing a booze stockpile in my tavern. Try that.

I've built a prison and engraved it a little. One of my prisoners will see the following while restrained:

"Engraved on the wall is an exceptionally designed image of Kivish Seizecoal the dwarf and a prepared meal by Tobul Limulidath. Kivish Siezecoal is raising the prepared meal. The artwork relates to the masterful prepared meal created by the dwarf Kivish Siezecoal for the Complexity of Beards at Blindfocus in the late autumn of 129."

One of the last things I'd want to see from a prison cell is an image of someone holding delicious food over their head.

Another of the engravings is the  symbol of my civ, which I hadn't noticed until now.

"Engraved is a Doren Rigothutmik rendition of a finely-engraved image of limb/body casts. The image is the symbol of the Wheel of Tenderness, a dwarven civilization."

So, I tried out 42.03. I was digging out the pool into which I was going to pour magma into to make obsidian for my tavern, libraries, temples and bedrooms when I got my first siege, about a dozen goblins and a captured human. I didn't have any traps or military set up, so I thought to myself: "Ah what the hell, I'll just let the civvies punch them to death." But much to my surprise, my dwarfs, who are suicidal in so many other of their behaviors, wouldn't go anywhere near the invaders. To make matters worse, they were all bowmen and crossbowmen, so they didn't even force my dwarfs into hand to hand combat. Disgusted and disappointed by my dwarfs cowardice, I ragequit.

Question: if I construct a floor, dump magma on it, make obsidian from that magma and mine the obsidian, will I get an obsidian floor? If so, that's less time I need to spend on my next fort digging out an obsidian casting pit.

I had a were-attack. I dispatched it easily, but of course one of my dwarves got infected. So when he transformed I formed a military and let them attack said dwarf. Unfortunately I must have placed the kill order when the dwarf transformed back, because shortly after the military was being killed by my other dwarves. :-\

Depends on who you are.
For some a paradise would be a place of magma, limbs being severed, guts being spilled, skulls being jammed through brains and also alcohol poisoning and taverns full of vomit.

Actually, that does sound pretty good.
