My Dwarves made the Helm of Ecthelion. In other words, a silver helm encrusted with white gems, as an artifact.

After months of rigorous and brutal training, my dwarfes have mastered their combat skills to the point where they know no equal. But due to the lack of exposure to the sun, they become nausetated and throw up once they step on the surface. An annoying side effect known as "cave adaptation", as I have found out. But luckily, there is an easy fix:

Undead siege led by Necromancer. I have 4 recruits. Get my animals inside, Leave the gate open. Rapidly try and make cage traps to hold the Necromancer (I like having at least one as a "drillmaster") and he storms in ahead of his minions, but I don't have the cage traps anywhere near done, and he is scaring off the mechanics. Release the unarmed recruits, and he flees into the trade depot. They beat him up and he falls unconscious when they hit his hand, causing it to explode. I then put the squad inactive, so they return to the main fort, and the mechanics make the traps. After a bit he heals, and runs to his oaken prison.

Only problem is, I now have a host of undead outside my walls without the troops to deal with them. Still, one thing at a time. :P

My master wrestler just kicked 6 evil dwarves asses without taking a scratch.

The wiki isn't very helpful here. Looking at the raws, it seems like the little purple dudes I captured can equip items and learn skills, but can't talk. I seem to recall that speaking isn't a necessary part of gaining social skills, and someone mentioned the possibility of having plump helmet man mayors in forts.

Is it possible? My current setup has them stuck behind fortifications in my dining hall where they can semi-interact with all my dwarves. No one seems afraid of them. They just stand there.

On another note, my Voracious Cave Crawler pair finally had a set of triplets. It's the next chapter in fortress defense, to be surpassed only when I finally catch a female Jabberer (and/or when those 55 Cave Crocodile eggs hatch).

What would it be like to live in a world that was copy/pasted? Would we even notice? If not, how many times have we switched celestial harddrives or whatever?

I just noticed that all my dwarves are wearing only caps and shoes. Did the clothes burn off in the scorching climate?

Were you raised in a barn? All the classy dwarves know that cabinets are for clothes chests are for medical supplies armor stands and weapon racks are strictly decorative.

WEll, at least obsidian casting is easy.  Though, you CAN edit the pause function, and even the fact that it will send you a message. Look in "announcements" file under the init folder, and find this:
[CAVE_COLLAPSE:A_D:D_D:P:R]
P caused the game to pause, and "R" causes it to recenter.

Change it to this: [CAVE_COLLAPSE:A_D:D_D]

A_D and D_D determine whether or not an announcement is given at the bottom of the screen at all.  A_D is for adventure mode, and D_D is for Dwarf mode.

A necromancer and would-be ambusher has kindly delivered a book entitled Death: Problems and Solutions to my fort. Interestingly, it even appears on my artifacts screen. Is there any way I can get my dwarves to read it?
