Not sure what I am seeing because I don't use tiles...but did trees just grow under ground?

^Looks like one of the alternate gemstone tiles in the wall to the left of the dorf (which is just a recolor of the web tile) but I'm not 100% on that tileset.

As for the trees, yeah, they're actually ambush predators which feed on near-surface farms and dorfs caught above-ground.

I once had the opportunity to put a statue of the previous chief medical dwarf in the hospital while the replacement was there... which was great because the previous one had died due to lacking a hospital, leading him to lay in bed and starve with a broken leg. "DAMMNIT URIST MCPHYSICIAN, HEAL THYSELF! DO EET, WHY ARE YOU DEHYDRATING, ARGH!"

Really, DF lungfish are magical creatures that can fly and phase through solid rock.

I recall one of them chilling on top of the exit chamber for one of my magma pumpstacks, said pumpstacks have a moat around an engraved pillar which then lets it out through three fortification ports, so it really did look like he was contemplating learning how to swim in magma.

OK, I trapped some giant sparrow zombies in my trade depot room. Maybe I can capture them and sell them to the humans next year.

Edit* How did this sparrow move? Crawl with its beak?

My civilization is dwarven only by tradition; the last dwarven member died fourteen years ago in a minotaur attack. Current population of the civ is 224 goblins and nothing else. In fact, there are only three living dwarves in whole world, scattered across the continent. Still I'm getting dwarf migrants and even the caravan merchants and guards are dwarves.

AGGGHHH!  My Broker is finally not drinking or on break or doing something else.  He is AT the Trade Depot and it is the Human Caravan who are refusing to trade.  What?!?!?   It just says "No Traders available for trading" or something like that.  The "T" for trade is grayed out.  What is going on?
