It's now the 3rd year of my no mining wrestler fortress.
One of my novice swimmer drowned when killing an Ibex.  What?
Fortunately I bought 2 stones from the caravan.

You can just build your trade depot  beyond your draw bridges. But consider there are probably plenty of "accidents" on evil biome, you can just wait to loot their dropped goods.
True, but I always build my depot inside a drawbridge so i can protect the caravan if something nasty shows up.
You can even make two bridges and put your depot between them. After they finished unloading, close the outer one to seal them and open the other one to trade. No one can leave until you let them.
I think I'll use that when I attempt the dwarf labor camp challenge.

My wrestlers now can kill warthogs.
There was a time they couldn't break their skulls using wooden shields.

The outpost liaison finally came. I should order more logs, they are cheap anyway.

I managed to capture the legendary jabberer. He will be trained and his children will be the first of generations of domesticated jabberers.

Goblin siege! They skipped a year, so that meant I had time to train a green recruit into a legendary +4 spearmaster. I think he'll be fine, especially because this year I also have steel armor. This year they also brought four goblin-named dwarves, meaning my dwarves will have some historical figures to kill. Wait, make that three, one ran away. The other three were caught in cage traps.

First on the scene is Macelord Kib, charging into a squad of trolls. Next are Macelord Atis and Spearmaster Doren, my new recruit. Kib, Macelord Stinthad, and Doren all go into martial trances as they tear into the enemy. After a few hours of fighting, Kib smashes the head of the last troll. The siege is lifted.

Why would it take hours for legendary dwarves to kill some goblins and trolls?

On the item is an image of a dwarf and an elephant. The elephant is striking down the dwarf.

Because there were about 5 squads and even short battles take a day or two in fortress mode, I was just saying a shorter time for effect. Plus there were some cowardly trolls to chase down.

Does anyone know how high magma mist goes? Would 6z be enough to stop it?

I'm pretty sure 3z is more than enough. Maybe even 2z, but not sure.

Well, we'll be finding out soon enough. I've already made my worn clothes magma dump, it just has to get running. In other news, I HAVE TWELVE THOUSAND PREPARED MEALS. I'm pretty sure that food would be 90% of my fortress's wealth if it was counted.

And after killing the last of this batch of wild giant sparrows, I get... dingoes? I've never gotten dingoes on this map before. Anyway, since they are land animals, every single one of them was caught. We'll have domesticated dingoes running though the halls soon enough.

EDIT: Some kid made a highwood scepter. It's only unique in that it's the only artifact scepter I have and that it has a picture of a giant sparrow in the fetal position.

EDIT2: An FB, a stonefly with poisonous bite, showed up in the third cavern. Even though I could kill it easily I think I will catch it instead, since my live FB trap is in that cavern.

EDIT3: A spider FB with poisonous bite showed up in the second cavern, so I closed the gate. Experience tells me that all spider FBs have webs in addition to whatever else they have. The stonefly got owned by a herd of rutherers, so I reopened the caverns. THREE GDS SHOWED UP, I CAN'T GET PICTURES BECAUSE IMGUR IS BEING STUPID, I CAUGHT ONE, THAT MEANS I HAVE A BREEDING PAIR OF GDS.

EDIT4: I CAUGHT ALL THREE YOU GUYS, I HAVE A MALE GDS AND THREE FEMALES, PREPARE FOR TAME GDS. I also sent Spearmaster Doren to kill the now named rutherer. Upon killing it he received his title, Doren Sabreprice the Turquoise Meeting of Blunting. It's okay.
