I'm currently making it so that my fortress grows from reproduction only (not migration). This is my first time doing it so everything's slow. I've lost my first 3 starter dwarves. The first two died from dehydration. The third died trying to pump water to a small hole in the ground, which he ended up getting swept into by the rushing water.

I've settled my vampire adventurer in there as well, but I've heard that vampires are sterile. Is there a way to remove the sterile thing (I can't find anything in the raws that has the [STERILE] tag), or is it hardcoded in? If there's a way, I intend on creating a vampire clan of some sorts.

I believe that it is hardcoded but you could mod a race of vampire dwarves who can reproduce instead. But I could be wrong about the hardcoded bit.

My cook claimed a workshop and created a granite flute. Athser Inob, "The Charcoal of Meals"...He must have cooking on the brain. On the plus side, he's now a legendary cook AND a legendary stonecrafter.

But they never would have given up either. And compared to sitting around in this prison for the rest of my life? Losing is fun.

Three of my dorfs have passed age 100.
The fort itself is 23 years old.
There's no babies.
There's no children.
The youngest one is the newest migrant, my manager. He's already 58 years old.

Any married migrants? There should be some at least.

On the item is an image of a dwarf and an elephant. The elephant is striking down the dwarf.

No, only some pairs of lovers.
And it seems goblins are dead, I haven't seen any goblins nor kobolds for ages since last mini-siege.

I'll wait for several more years before I remove the population limit.

A starling forgotten beast came. It had a boiling gas attack. It killed some animals, scared some Elks and Trolls into my cage traps before it was beheaded by the legendary gem cutter and axe lord.

Time to burrow the lovers in a 2x2 room. Give them booze and food till the pop some buggers.

Don't forget that their orientation may just have one or both of them to just stay as lovers and not get married.

Embarking right next to a goblin tower was, in fact, not a bad idea.

Lost a few of my trained soldiers to that one.... might be time to upgrade their equipment from iron.

Relicshield, pop. 181
Late Autumn of 365 (Year 114)

When the mayor's demands for a GOLD BED were ignored, she had Datan Goodhatchet-Dippedtowers and Asmel Channeltree sentenced to a hammering. Both perished.  The position of Hammerer has since been removed.  No more improvised kicking demonstrations :(.

Finally took down the charcoal webber, at the expense of a macedwarf and all but one member of my hammerdwarf squad.
And the fort's only jeweler.
The fire-breather is assumed dead in a hidden area of the caverns, and will be less of a challenge, due to shields.
EDIT: Also found a new type of cancellation, at least for me: "Experiencing emotional shock".

Yeah, I was expecting the "so and so has been interrupted" message, and they just calmly finished the wall.

Weremoose hammerdwarf took out a reanimated dwarf head and a zombie elf crossbowman before dying at the hands of a zombie elf spearman who she couldn't kill before turning back into a dwarf.  I should have waited until her weapon skills were higher.
