Maybe it's time to move on and try 40.23 (or should I wait for 40.24?)
40.24 will fix a lot of bugs. The biggest one, IMO, is the 'unretire fortress = crash'. So 40.24 will be great if you want to mix and match fortress and adventurer modes. But 40.23 is pretty stable and not that buggy, really.

I'm running with a pop cap of 7. Two pairs of the original seven have been 'living in sin' for four years now. GET MARRIED ALREADY! :P

Now 8 years. Still not married.

Just give up.
I had an 11 years old fort and they didn't get married.

Even if they did, their children still couldn't marry each other and other dorfs would be too old for them.

Just got a migrant child with the shocking age of -245.
No joke.
I do not believe that is normal.

He probably comes from the same neither-realm as my logs with negative distance to construction site.

Cool, but wouldn't this likely lead to tongues having a '[SPEACH]' tag, and thus via necromancy we would have nearly unkillable reanimated tongues following necromancers spamming 'it is sad but not unexpected'?

My mayor vampire is now completely pacified by hammering. Being paralyzed he can no longer drink blood, but why won't he die?
They don't actually need to drink blood (or anything for that matter) to live. Hence why many people take their vampires into a sealed office with only a chair and have them do the bookkeeping forever.

I know they don't need to drink. Or breath. I'm just annoyed on home many executions did this guy survived. He apparently died from infection this time.

In my fort, a dwarf who I failed to entomb battered Bim Anvildanced, a hunter.  Her thoughts on the matter?

I want to tell you they were bad men, cephalo.  I want to tell you that with a better overseer the Fortress never would've gotten so bad someone would get offed in a pointless fisticuffs.
But the sad truth charlie?
It was inevitable.

I hate not having an appraiser. They all died during the big wereape breakout. I figured I would just take way more than I thought my goods were worth, then let the caravan trader guide me to a decent trade. They took my first offer. I will never know how badly I just got ripped off.

I find that the easiest way to get someone with appraisal skill is to assign a broker then make said person trade.
Opening the window gives them experience.

I've just stumbled on strange moment when coffin was labelled as owned by a ghost.

And also apparently, cloud of smoke in my cavern just kind of stuck.

So, we breached the caverns. After patching up a couple cavern-holes, curiosity got the best of us and we got around to digging deeper.

WE WILL FIND YOU, ADAMANTINE

Not sure about lovers, but IIRC, two dorfs need to be at least within 10-years age gap to get married.
So if you don't have enough dorfs, your fort will die of old age eventually.
