Bronzeriver.
A weredeer attacked and killed 10+ dwarves and all of my dogs. Then it transformed back into an elf and my hunting dog killed it.

However my fort is almost 3 years old and this is the only interesting event. I'm worried, there are no elven or human caravans even though the embark screen shows them and goblins as neighbors. There hasn't been a single siege, snatcher or thief.

Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

don't goblins come at year four? I don't know about the other races, they should have shown but someone else was complaining about the same thing in another thread.

Just abandoned a fortress.  It was getting boring, and also was on fire.

I went looking for a new location, my goal is to create a city completely carved into a mountain.  The place I selected included the source of a river, flux, and soil.  Unfortunately, I did not get the cistern set up before autumn came, and they all died of dehydration.

The next place is excellent-a flat plain, a cliff, with a  plateau on top, and a river on the plateau, with a waterfall to the plain.  I am going to create a city similar to Markath from Skyrim--carved out, with canals flowing throughout, and housing overlooking the waterfall.

Lanceyears is slowly progressing. Built into the side of a volcano caught between a forest and a mirthful savannah. 18 dwarves population.

The first dwarven caravan came and went, and due to my broker being a doofus I missed any trading. Nothing we really could've bought except more food and booze but it's still a bummer.

The second migrant wave came, and brought a couple interesting dwarves. Two dwarves have good stats and "bravery in the face of danger, to the point of foolhardiness" and are going to be recruited. Despite not having any skills, hopefully sparring and their bravery will help them get through any early encounters with bandits or werebeasts. Also giving them pointy sticks should help.

There's a third dwarf who's interesting. A big strong female grand master farmer who values peace and harmony and dislikes fighting or learning to fight but will never pass up on a good fistfight. Heh.

one day, when all your people disappear, human barbarians will settle it. Be sure to leave plenty of traps behind.

I would have abandoned the first fort too. You already won the game for that particular fort.

Right. Spring of the second year in Lanceyears. Despite not trading with the mountainhome, I went and got a migrant wave of 22 dwarfs to sort through. Ugh.

Not only that, but a migrant metalcrafter immediately went moody. He wants bars of metal and cut gems, he got some bronze, gonna have a dwarf make a jeweler's shop and cut the most expensive gem we have on site.

Legendary metalcrafter oughta be useful once we set up the magmaforges and actually FIND SOME ORE. Out of all the digging so far we haven't found anything but gems, gems, and more gems.

everything going fine atm, except for loosing my 2 wardogs against a group of troglodytes, not enough people to form a militia. but the barracks have been built already. an over ground dinning hall has been constructed, the idea is to slowly make an overground fort, which extends some lvls on the underground. for now the dinning hall is the girst step. the stone from the cavern should suffice for not needing to urther digs galleries in the rest of the lvls. magma fueled furnaces have been created and hematite is being smelted into iron. now just need to make charcoal for steel.

lost one dorf to a giant toad which i was able to capture, captured a pair of gigantic tortoises for a breeding program, magma forges are transforming the large quantities of iron into armor and weapons, no problems with population for now. everything fine, hospital is being created and have a working militia.

I keep thinking I should run an adventurer in DF who uses a masterwork Enormous Steel Corkscrew as his weapon.
