generating a new world in.40.05 large area, 9500 years 3.6 GHz proc and it's getting about 100 years/hr currently. It was at year 2633 when I departed for work this morning after 10 hours of generation time.

Another 10 hours of generation time done and the year stands at 3170, err 3171, 3172...

I am surprised that the game didn't run out of ram and crashed. What kind of proc do you have? You listed its speed, but not its name. Of which I could use to find its architecture and compare it to my proc.

oh my, this is going to take a long long time, things will move along much quicker once I'm able to make more picks and have a large army of legendary miners the mining process should go much much quicker. sadly the about a third of the immigrants are useless children. :c

I'd assume the same thing when you melt down some masterwork chain leggings: the creator goes insane.

I killed my first husk today !! Washed it clean, and let it out of its hallway. Unfortunately, it ignored the militia and pathed straight to some livestock. Eventually, my 14 axedwarves and 20 conscripts were able to chase it into a dead-end and eventually decapitate it ! They have witnessed death, and are only unhappy at most.
The only downside: my first zombie stockpile is full, so I dug out another one on Z-30. Maybe I should start planning a magma chute ?

The beast is dead. After killing dozens of pets, elves, and at least seven weaponlords, the beast is finally dead.

Now to deal with legendary swordmaster tantrums from dead babies.

I was reading reports from my military's last outing to kill some ravens just because they were annoying. This report came across my desk:

The petrified wood strikes the raven in the left wing, bruising the muscle
The petrified wood strikes the raven in the left lower leg, shattering the bone

This begs the question, since the rest of the report was a cavy pup tearing the raven into pieces, was it raining rocks, or were my dwarfs deciding to hurl stones at the bird rather than use their crossbows?

Decided with the new version to finally try a reclaim for and... This is interesting. Just how consistent are reclaim fort layouts? Though I do question having the forges many many z levels above the smelters.

Embarked over a road. Gonna make it secure from bandits and goblins. Plus the civ is at war with the Elves and losing maybe. So also a front line to help with the war effort.

Started a new fort for 40.05.  Traders STILL get stuck on the depot and everywhere else.  God I wish Toady would fix this bug.

I'm new to succession forts in general, yes, but do all forts designed by multiple overseers inevitably degenerate into a body-filled labyrinth of chaos and despair like this? Or is this just a Battlefailed thing?

Another 5 hours and the numbers stand at:
Year 3726
Hist Figs: 218716
Dead: 134264
Events 1.93 million

so we're down to about 40 years an hour (Year advanced 2 while writing this)

I'm not totally vanilla, Dwarves are changed to live 250 to 270 years, the multiple birth rare has been removed and he dwarven women have beards. There are a couple more reactions available to the mountain civs,( find my post over in the modding section about Bessemer process) I also changed the ethics and such for the dwarves, and removed the justice and work exemptions for every position in the culture so your nobles will work and if they get a mandate failed they might be the one hammered.

My fortress is boring(and slow) as ever, but I just noticed my baron is a complete badass and wanted to share:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

His military skills are complete rubbish, however.
