And that's what I get for skimming before answering.  My bad.  Quite a mystery you've got there.  Even though she already has a coffin, maybe an engraved slab would help this dead dwarf to actually register as dead with the game.

If the game thinks she's alive still, it probably wont even let you engrave a slab.

Also, does the new version of therapist still show kidnapped children? Throughout my tantrum spiral, the only dwarf showing up in therapist to be ecstatic was a child who was kidnapped years ago. Tantrum spiral also ended with 48 dwarves left. Would have been 49, but my mayor decided that the legendary armorer in the hospital needed their face caved in.

Which of the following two methods is a better way to get vampires to drink alcohol (and thus remove the slowdown from sobriety)?
-Option A
-Option B

I'd like to do it with a minimum loss of dwarven life, but to be honest I can probably find expendable dwarves cat-lovers for the second method if the first has issues.

What would it be like to live in a world that was copy/pasted? Would we even notice? If not, how many times have we switched celestial harddrives or whatever?

Doesn't look like either one removes the alcohol withdrawl.

I'm just coming back from having quit a couple months ago.
My new fort is called Murdertool. I had planned for this to be a relatively peaceful fort to help me get back into things but evidently not.

The first one removes the vampire's inability to drink alcohol for about two months. The other removes it permanently. It will indirectly get the vampire drunk by allowing them to become thirsty again.

E: Neither will make the dwarf want to stop snacking on others, however.

I'd just add [ALCOHOL_CREATURE] to dwarven blood. Doubt it'll work, but whatever.

Current fort decided to unseal the edges of one of the caverns. To that end, I sent in four legendary woodcutters. They're only about halfway through the 3000 trees... And one of my miners died in my first fatal cave-in. I put a water source above a magma pipe with DFHack, then told him to even the surface out - not realizing that he need to dig upward ramps to get rid of the floor tiles. He waltzed up, dug three or four walls, then hit a single tile. He cut out the tile, leaving the floor hanging midair and instantly died.  :'(

Is [ALCOHOL_CREATURE] even a real tag?

Did a bit of testing with the demon killing box in a copy save and an artifact chain does not distract the demons, despite it being a building. Replaced it with an artifact grate, which works fine. Though artifact awe distraction seems a bit overpowered with the HFS rush, lol.

Anyways, the speardwarf and swordsdwarf squads are now at legendary, though theres this one swordsdwarf who is lagging behind for some reason, he's at raw level 14 (halfway to 15) while everybody else range from between raw level 21-26. May have been partially because he kept doing crossbow demonstrations (with a sword, lol), nobody else except maybe one other dwarf got anything out of it, and that dwarf also has some marksdwarf skill already.

Meanwhile, the second marksdwarf squad is FAR from ready... I need more POWs.....

My militia commander put his "Adequate Kicker".
He kicked my berserk farmer in the hand, shattering the bone through the iron gauntlet !
Here's hopeing that he lops off a few legs before the farmer dies and rises again.

EDIT: I just saw the reference to the the test case earlier.
The dwarf did drink, but he came a little too close to dehydration death for my liking (IIRC it did wear-off before he died).
Spoiler: So I'm 65000 now (click to show/hide)

Relicshield, pop. 187, Late Summer of 359 (Year 108)

The human caravan arrived from the northwest.  Their faces were full of fear as they urged their beasts of burden to move as fast as possible.  Before they had uttered a single word, the dwarves knew what was coming.  Commander Dishmab and the North Watch escorted the humans into the safety of the underground trade network just as a great clamor arose from the western hills, heralding the arrival of the Evils of Spray.  At the head of a host of enemy archers was an elite crossbow goblin, causing the dwarven reservists on the wall to tremble in fear.  Still, they stood their ground and began to rain bolts upon their foes.

Asmel Fissuretour and the West Watch took the fight to the goblins, exiting the West Gate while shouting for the blood of their foes.  While reservists shot into the fray, the soldiers pushed toward the goblin squad leader.  Axedwarf Mosus Graniteright and speardwarf Nomal Socketinked kept the dangerous elite busy, while frontline archers Ast and Ast II Bustcrystals shot at the goblin, with the elder landing a headshot.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Meanwhile, in the southern trade tunnel, Deler Anguishepages and the South Watch halted a determined troll advance.  He and his 2nd-in-command, Stakud II, were quite the duo, attacking trolls in concert and dispatching them with grim efficiency.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Everything went by the numbers, with this siege's defense the best in decades!  All merchants were safe and accounted for, far fewer goblins made it into the trade tunnels, and an elite enemy archer was slain without any dwarven casualties.

I got sick of the very slow tantrum spiral and had a dorf dig into the river.

A second later, someone drowns--on the opposite end of the fortress, in the caverns.

ETA: Someone else died of dehydration on a stairwell, gods know how. Meanwhile about 50 farmers have flocked to the flooding area to gaze happily at the new waterfall.

Armoredstalkers, Year 2, Autumn to oblivion by meta.

Migrants arrived in the fall and we suffered our first injury: Dakost Scribedcave was mauled by a forest spider and lost the use of one hand. Thankfully a physician who arrived right behind him moonlighted as a hunter and shot the beast down> However it remained to be seen if Dakost will overcom the spider's venom.

But due to me going into the wrong save folder to get rid of a save I wanted gotten rid of, and lost Armoredstalkers. I feel stupid.

It is now year 65 of The Lunar Universe, a region of the world plagued by foul plains and calm but large swamplands. The Skirts of Healing, the sole dwarven force in the whole region aside from regiments of the legion, is embroiled in an all-out war with the beak wolf hordes. Goblins, orcs, frost giants, and worst of all, warlocks also stalk the swamps, glaciers, and forests of the region looking for victims to fuel their dark magic and undead armies.

As the only mountains they can settle are overcrowded, many families wanted to find somewhere else to live, to get away from the crowded halls. To this end, a group known as The Noble Coals has set out, lead by to Dugan Fragrancelies, to found a new home: a small settlement to be called Ularolon, Idolgear. Their only defense will be a rather combative dwarf by the name of Meng Bookblamed and the spare wood splitting axes they have should anything larger than a raven or an ornery porcupine appear.

Rovod Breakwork, Goden Plagueseason, and Elcur Birdfaded set to work digging into the hillside to the north of the parked wagon while Meng and Tosid Dreadcontest start felling the numerous alders and oaks around the wagon. The presence of compact peat means a somewhat renewable source of fuel, even if it's not exactly the most efficient means to get coke for forges. Now it's just a matter of getting dug in before the Beak wolves attack.

Alright, now that I'm at my computer I can do a proper report on my Masterwork fort.

Okbuddustik, "Doomedboar," 17th Limestone, 134
Population: 241 Beards. 164 Adults, 54 Children, 23 Babies

The orcs are squatting on our lands. One mounted squad to the West, one footsoldier squad to the South, and a group of Giant Blight Bats to the North. Oh, and one nervous Scout Cutta standing still in a hallway full of traps. He and his squad stupidly ran into our backdoor. Most were chopped apart by the weapons, some fell into cages, and a foolish recruit got herself killed by that very Cutta. Now he stands, a gauntlet of weapons on one side, even more cages on the other. I sent my recently Enlightened macelord, Thabum, to whoop that ass.. The mounted squad includes their strange, unnamed "Deity."
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
They just sort of sit there. I'm going to have to entice them with a friendless Peasant or something..

To take care of these sieges in a more timely manner, I am going to reserve a layer for security tunnels leading to bunkers around the map. Too many enemies show up and sit there, so I'm going to have to bring the fight to them. Having a squad of Enlightened beards will burst forth from below to slaughter those who oppose us. And there are a lot of those who oppose us indeed..

For 241 dwarves, I don't think my food and booze stocks are doing great. A glance through Therapist shows a lot of people complaining of sobriety. I really need to learn how to farm. Also on my list is to learn autolabor and other useful things in DFhack. We have 243 drinks, 455 meat, 171 plants, and 937 seeds. Perhaps a grand farming complex is in order. Clothes are also becoming an issue, many are wearing rotten rags and I'm pretty sure I have plenty of fresh outfits. I'll have to fix that.

Still having trouble with my Shaft of Enlightenment. I can't get the subjects to stand on the hatch. A Station order gets them close. Putting a door in the small hallway didn't help. Here's a visual aid:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

1. is the hatch itself, where I want the subject to stand, and the door I put to try to force them into the "room."
2. is the former lever hallway for the Shaft. I walled it up and moved the lever to 4. to stop subjects from stationing there.
3. is the stairway back up from the Shaft. Subjects stand here way too much as well.

Any advice on how to force a dwarf onto that hatch?

EDIT: So, while I was setting up a mass of bedrooms to be dug and trying to figure out my military problems, the mounted orc squad led by the jackal devil found a way in. I noticed some leopards running around outside the pen. Checking in, I saw the squad had broken down the bars I set up to keep them out and ripped through most of my animals. I rallied the troops, redesigned the Red Alert burrow real quick, and forbid everything in the area. Still not working, as farmers and peasants keep rushing into the fight for who knows what items. Still, the fighters that matter showed up in time to beat back the opposition. Thabum the Macelord even ended up killing the "Deity," who happened to be that jackal devil and the head of the orc civilization.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
So, now I just need to mop up the orcs still trapped inside (we raised a bridge to not let the devil escape) and victory is ours!

Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow dwarf is either a fool or a coward. Whoever can not take care of themself without that law is both. For a wounded dwarf shall say to his assailant, "If I live, I will kill you. If I die, you are forgiven." Such is the rule of honor.

The fortress is mostly flooded, an FB is wandering around the dorms, there's a hundred goblins outside and we only have six dwarves left.

The mayor chooses now to mandate something. Oi . . .

Urist!!!!  Check out this waterfall!  It's beautiful as it falls down the central corridor!  Get Morul and Mosus, too!  They gotta see this.

*multiple dwarves bliss out, not realizing it's flooding them to their doom*

the speardwarf Zon Ablellurit, mentioned here : http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=34430.8295
is now a spearlord after some training in the danger room. Incidentally, the dude never got a crutch so he's CRAWLING on the ground, without a foot and without armor on the remaining scarred food with nerve damage. He's now incredibly strong and mighty and hard to tire. He still does hauling jobs ironically and DRAGS rocks at snail pace.
He also never stops organizing combat drills or personal training sessions whenever he's not doing a job. He also survived a dragon fire, despite half of his squad getting burned, and is gaining agility for all his crawling around. This dude is a LEGEND!
While in the danger room he took some hits to his leftover leg and head(he's on the ground, remember?) but he never fainted and didn't become exhausted despite his squad mates being over-exerted.
How does this dude even exist, lol?!
