What would it be like to live in a world that was copy/pasted? Would we even notice? If not, how many times have we switched celestial harddrives or whatever?

Next fortress! Now with (hopefully) fixed Skythe spawning!

Fortress Name: Graniteechoes (Loloksarek)

Starting Seven are the same as Umbralzenith:
  • Cysgod
  • Tywyllwch
  • Cyfnos
  • Nos
  • Wedi Syrthio
  • Torri
  • Am Byth

Now, can I run this one for more than a couple of years..?
Probably, since invaders are OFF for now, and good thing, too.

Spoiler: Embark site. (click to show/hide)

Edit: According to DFHack...
SKYTHE_CAVE: 46

So that's working. Now, to business.

Outside the game, this is the first fortress I've had that actually got the King.  It took me five years (almost exactly), numerous fortresses, and a bunch of different versions starting from 40d to get there.

Grats!  It took me quite a while to get a Mountainhome, too.  I played through so many fortresses where that wasn't even a remote possibility, so I was unprepared for the announcement.  "Quick, build those amenities!"

Discuss the specifics. Where specifically are you going to dump the corpses of his nation's armies?

As pompous as they are, being nice to the elves does have benefits, like tame giant eagles and such.

A sister fortress to Wipedboots, Kissedsacks, has been founded. It's a ways to the east, but is on the same arctic sea and haunted tundra as Wipedboots. That means it also possesses delicious aluminum. It turns out that haunted biomes aren't so bad if you aren't being ambushed by the ever-increasing horde of undead from the second the wagon stops. It also turns out that crossbows are really powerful; my two marksdwarves were able to defend the fortress from all undead incursions by themselves. That is, until one of them was caught out of bolts by a murder (flock? I don't know) of undead ravens. The other elite marksdwarf then went stark raving mad with grief, leaving the fortress undefended. Now the first year has passed, and I've had to hide beneath my locked hatch cover with only five surviving dwarves, two of them children. The outpost liaison is down here too, and he's freaking the fuck out. At least I've got ample food thanks to my marksdwarves killing every living (and unliving) thing unfortunate enough to stumble upon the fortress. Walrus kidneys. Yummy.

It seems I've been saved; 38 migrants arrived just as the survivors from the initial expedition were losing their weak grip on sanity. Let's see how many of these guys survive the trip across the blood-drenched tundra.

Sad day in The Rabbit of Huts. The Pterdactyl beast got into the fort somehow (I guess it goes into the magma sea then comes up ??) This happened while we were processing an Alpaca. The beast kicked a hauler to death, then went into the dining room to break a sleeping child's spine and then strangle him. He later got rescued from the chokehold, but broken spine is broken.

How did the fort respond? Suprisingly well actually. Since I already had some civilians in metal clothing, I stationed the "civilian" squad to the Tanner / Spinner area while my lords went to the Pterodactyl. I was still a little lucky with the zombie part. The only zombies to rise were the Dwarf Father (once) and the Alpaca Hair (once). Yes, the Pterodactyl got up too, but that was when it was near the garbage chute so no harm was done.

Afterwards, only one child is Very Unhappy, because the the child was his sister and the father was his father. And what did I learn:
- Pterodactyls leave a big corpse to dump. I may try the wheelbarrow/refuse thing.
- Civilians in metal are great.
- You can escort a dwarf with militia. (1) Station PtX (2) Unpause (3) Hauler passes (4) Pause (5) Cancel Station (6) repeat

Pompous, pointy-eared, tree-humping bastards. I'm gonna make a point of chopping down all the trees and making soap.

... autochop designation tells me there are only 36 trees in my safezone burrow. WHAT HERESY IS THIS?

The elves KNEW you would try to betray them. They made sure it was physically IMPOSSIBLE to betray them... Cunning bastards...

~Graniteechoes, Year 1~

The first year has ended, much like any other year. We have found deposits of exceptionally rare rubies and sapphires, and we have just the woman to cut them. Migrant 24LIM51 - M6 entered a fey mood in mid-autumn and created Webgorged.

This feat has earned her the title of Amethyst's Edge, and a name has been given to her; her name is now Drysor.

A murder (flock? I don't know) of undead ravens.

An unkindness, actually. (A murder is crows.)
