.......I have somehow managed to embark as ELVES in Masterwork DF.......... wat do

Did you mess with anything? Sounds kind of like what happens when there are duplicate raws, but probably should ask in the section for the masterwork mod.

Yeah, I've gotten that before, cuddles. Quite often, actually. It's not rare at all, just uncommon (and remember, kids, there are 3 uncommons in a pack of 15 cards!  :P )

Got a possessed miner demanding cloth. One of my O7, even. He's demanding three bolts of cloth, has grabbed one from my large pile of pigtail cloth, and... I don't have silk or yarn cloth, and don't know which he wants. I can't risk anyone going to get some silk, and my yaks and goat apparently can't be sheared.

oh hey, so apparently trying to channel out a staircase that leads into water from the bottom totally doesn't work

hasta la vista, miners 2 and 3. :(

was trying to make a well tube to the third cavern which was in a convenient location vertically. usually don't do that because I like embarking with aquifers.

Migrants have mercifully arrived, probably because the Duchess was lazy about meeting with the diplomats who have now reported the numerous deaths. Thanks to some Coati men, I have lost a fisherdwarf as the fire turret accidentally blasted him while he was out doing his job while attempting to fry the annoying animal men. As I didn't see it continue to fire at every single one that passed, Tosid the fisherdwarf's corpse has been incinerated but on the upside, his death was witnessed and I can quickly slab him. Out of respect, an empty coffin will be placed as he did nothing but provide tasty fish for the fortress and didn't deserve to be incinerated.

Figured out who my vampire was (and still suspect my mayor). My hammerer who is a great hammer user -_-. Looks like an expedition deep underground is in order.

During a human siege (started getting these a lot lately), my Duke, one of the founding seven, decided one of my best and oldest Hammer Lords needed to be imprisoned for almost three months for not making bracelets.  Due to the siege, the hammer lord somehow starved, although I'm not quite sure I understand it.  After over a decade of useless demands and punishments, the fortress has had enough.  This senseless passive murder of one of our most ardent defenders was one crime of madness too many.  Although the remaining hammer lords refuse to execute the Duke, his fate has been sealed.

The Duke has had all his belongs and rooms stripped.  He is now locked in his much devalued new tomb, with space only for his coffin and his slab, behind the crypt of dead humans, including the ones that fell during the siege.  He has been sentenced to the same death the hammer lord received, starvation during imprisonment.  May Armok have  no mercy on his soul.

I've replaced the missing bridge to the fort's entrance, and it is now accessible again.

The forges are now churning out steel equipment so that I won't lose most of the fort to a single ambush again.

I've re-routed the top of the cliff so that there is a 1 tile wide walkway on either side suspended over 15 Z-levels with two weapons traps on each. Preliminary testing seems positive, with most chinchilla test-subjects being either shredded or tossed quite far, the record distance being 26 tiles east and 26 tiles south of the launch-point.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the Chinchilla Cannon:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Also, a kea somehow made off with a nickel cage left behind by one of the combusted merchants.

"The goblin Mirding Casserperad (Dancevoice) has come! A medium-sized humanoid driven to cruelty by it's evil nature!"

...and it's friendly. I would've assumed goblins would be hostile, even as de-transformed werecreatures.

edit: it was spotted by a child right next to it. The child was smart enough to run away. A guard armed with a crossbow was also nearby, and prompty shot it with a giant toad bone bolt, tearing the right lung and causing it trouble breathing. Then the guard shot it in the head, killing it.

The Bastion truly is on its last legs, not even the obligatory fall caravan came. A wood troll trashed two of the wards I brought and got killed for it, but now we have some lead staves to use for.... Whatever.

Oh and beakwolf attack. Lovely. And nobody would pull the fucking gate lever.

It's been less than five minutes since I embarked and a kea has already stolen a wheelbarrow. Great.

EDIT: Ten minutes into my first encounter with keas and I already hate them with a burning passion. They've stolen ten plump helmets, two ropes, a pick (!!!) and the aforementioned wheelbarrow. I am going into the RAWs and adding about ten zeroes to their internal temperature. >:(

EDIT AGAIN: Maybe this fort wasn't such a good idea in the first place. I picked "Play Now" instead of preparing for the journey carefully, and for some reason I thought I'd end up with an arrangement of dwarves that would make sense. I have a fisherdwarf and a fish cleaner that could easily have been a farmer and a second miner. Well, there's training for that, at least.

well my 14 year old fort has had a vampire attack, only problem, the usual tactics will not work, we embarked on year 5 of the world so the vampire is no different from the rest of the dwarves.
I had recently marked all the barrels of blood and ichor  to be dumped, I'm wondering if my vampire has been drinking from them for the past three years instead of getting it fresher.
I have several dwarves that have no drinking thoughts, ok the one that likes mead, no I've not had mead in the fort, perhaps that dwarf just needs some mead, but the rest, I'm afraid I got a vampire blood spill in the well. Time to un-dump the blood, put them in a blood only stockpile and see who drinks there.

Wait for the caravan to come and then send your dwarves Elves out to meet the nearest goblin armed with a sock. Especially since Masterwork has no socks :D

I don't think vampires are sated from drinking spilled blood, only by feeding directly on a living victim. That's how it works in Adventurer mode at least, I've never had a fort survive long enough to receive a vampire.

Berul, The Bastion, has been working long and hard to try and secure the future of dwarfdom. So far three children have been born into this terrible place, where dwarf his hunted by the Ashlander nomads for the dwarfves' slights against nature and by the foul mages of the Warlock Enclaves for their sick experiments. So far they've left us alone, though the greenskins and beakwolves have tried twice now to slay us. The beakwolves' initial siege was met with copper spears and swords, three dwarves routing and/or killing the 15 of them A firmer assault was met by... Well, a drawbridge smashing 6 of the war gators they brought which apparently scared the shit out of the lot of them because the 80ish strong assault booked it after that which was actually kinda surprising.

Two goblin ambushes had unfortunate run in with merchant guards who did good work in killing them, though the humans were driven off with a dead merchant (I think) and a tuskox going on a rampage, killing four goblins, half a troop of arbelogs and three wolves. Not sure why though.

And finally what our two apostles have been orking towards has been achieved. The Bastion, literally the final hold of dwarfdom in this world, has done it.

The Iron Destroyer walks among them.

would like to see a story put together of this  :D

and the vamps are created from spilled blood in DF if a vamp infected teh blood. The wiki describes how to do so.
