Two additional migrant waves at Relicblaze (no fires, we just get snow, and more snow!)
Population at 119 with 100 adult dwarves and a swarm of baby dwarves. Among the notable arrivals were a "industrialist" (worker dwarf with master ratings in 4-5 different skills) The Weaver and Clothier is pretty common, but a Legendary Glassmaker is an improvement on the current best in the fortress. The new arrival is also a Legendary Miner as well. The military got four marksdwarves with basic training (Novice) that were not previous fortress veterans, but also got three more expert marksdwarves already cross-trained with hammer and short sword in addition to armor and shield use training.
That gives the fort two veteran squads; 6 melee (2 axe, 2 hammer, 2 morningstar) and 5 marksdwarves. The large numbers of idling dwarves will now be placed into squads for basic training as either melee or marksdwarves. The novice marksdwarves will be assessed for any teacher ability and then used to command squads or banded together as a support squad for the elite units.
The circle of additional archery bunkers are almost complete and the underground tunnels are now being used for most access so that intruders now get to pass multiple sets of guard animals and a trap zone overlooked by an archery post in order to enter the fortress. The outer posts will get limited patrols and used to provide some protection for expected visitors.
The outer ditch is now getting a wall as the next project simply to provide a degree of protection to the area right around the keep. Also something to do with the accumulation of stone that has built up.
Looking into snow removal since I'm not sure whether it affects dwarves health if they end up standing in it for extended periods of time. It's definitely not melting even when the area is roofed over at a later point.
On the social front the dining hall is getting a mild expansion to fit in more tables. Stone has been smoothed and the better trained engravers will be turned loose to do decorations shortly. An area for noble quarters has already been selected. The mayor's office was fitted out just in time for one to be elected. And a capt of the guard was appointed as well - he'll get half of the elite marksdwarves at some point once the military organization is finalized. Beyond that the adults are somehow squeezing into the sixty some rooms, though a few officers have both an office bedroom and a residence area bedroom.
Few moods recently. First two both produced coffins. Then a toy item. Got a pig iron gauntlet too, but that was a possession and thus no legendary armorer yet.
Given population and last few trading sessions the first siege should occur in the next two seasons. But that is usually a small one and the fort should be able to handle it. A few more iron shipments and the elite troops should be fully equipped in steel.
