(how the hell do you stop them using the adamantite threads!?!?)
One thing I did was to store the adamantine thread with the raw adamantine and wafers in a custom stockpile up close to the magma forges, which I kept far away from the hospital. I also set up cloth stockpiles that would store all cloth and thread besides adamantine, and I made sure that the only stockpile that could accept any adamantine thread was the custom stockpile by the forges. This stockpile would have it's own room with a door that could be locked in case of moods or doctors getting grabby.

As far as I can see the doctors will take the cheap thread because it's closer to the hospital than the adamantine. As extra precaution I built a craftsdwarf shop next to the candy stockpile for refining the raw ore, so there'd be no chances of thread getting snatched by doctors because it was left in a shop too close to the hospital.

Yeah I had done all that except build the strand extraction workshop beside my forge industry, because I hadn't done the stockpiles before and they stored it in a bin beside my clothing area, so they seemed to want to store it all in that bin until it got full, were they finally took it down to the lower levels. The hospital stil grabbed it from the workshop though for some reason. Anyway, lesson learnt for my next fortress.

One year mark for Debvagush!  :D

...Which is approximately eleven months longer than the last time I tried this biome, but eh.

My only trade partner is the mountainhome, my other neighbors are thieves and kidnappers.  There was something of an incident with a cave crocodile, the bastard thing bit off someone's foot before I could run damage control.  Good news is I stocked up on cavern trees first, so I can rely on traded wood for future bedding!

Also started work on the above-ground portion of the fortress, which will house the memorials and, potentially, future nobles.  Even built one a nice big tower with a tombpod on it.  ;D

While cleaning up the mess it was discovered that the fortress had a serious food shortage.  The various carnivore pets have been eating the meat, and crop rotations had been curtailed over the past few seasons due to large surpluses lying around.  Crop planting was increased, some spare animals were slaughtered, and the recent supply of dead goblin mounts also helped reload the larder.  It might be time to cull the population of either lions or blind cave bears a bit as well.  Or maybe just butcher a few of the rhino calves.
When did non-grazing animals start eating?

They absorb life force, like succubi.

I saw a thread where they were doing a "Founders of the Dwarves" thing with a fortress made at the beginning of world creation. I've decided to do something similar. May FirstFires live through the ages with The Ancient Prophecies at their helm

"The forgotten beast Pamene Slevinamacetha Cokameli has come!  A huge humanoid composed of limestone.  It has large mandibles and it has a gaunt appearance.  Beware its deadly dust!"

...I completely forgot about military!  This could end badly.  :o

Dust attacks are bad, even when you have a well-equipped, legendary military.  Cave-in time!

Eh, I walled off the area for now, possibly dooming about twenty dorfs to a horrible syndrome-y death.  Now I'm waiting to see exactly what sort of dust happened.  >:(

Oh well, I have slabs ready for this crap...

EDIT:
Well, I did it.  400 dwarves, and 188 FPS.  Huzzah!  8)

This is the only reason I would buy a high-end PC, ever.
