buried dwarves are all missing the upper body.  But on the phone I can't see if he is buried.

In my game I can't see the detailed description for dead dwarves, it only shows me the name. Am I missing something. Some unknown shortcuts? :-?
The only way I can think of off hand is using the Relations screen from the details screen of a family member or someone who knew them.

Man, the recruit has a very fitting name.  :D

Oh, that's her title.  I give my military dwarves Recruit <Weapon> or Soldier <Weapon> to keep them separate from civilians in DwarfTherapist, but still arranged by weapon type.  I wanted to make sure marksdwarves were featured at the end, so I shortened crossbow to xbow.

Yup, I used the deceased dwarf's wife to view his bio.

In my game I can't see the detailed description for dead dwarves, it only shows me the name. Am I missing something. Some unknown shortcuts? :-?

If you mean the summary of his life and cause of death, rather than the bio, you can view that with a memorial, [t] [enter] [v].  You can still engrave slabs for dwarves already buried.  It's a useful way to see how lost dwarves perished if you missed their death in text spam.

The Orcish fleet grows every day. The first Lifeship is completed, and construction is already underway on 2 Stockships. There are rumours that the other "filth" are taking interest, and may wish to join us... We shall see.

(I have big plans for this fort)

Can we assume that the magma got them?

Yes indeed. Magma is certainly a more Dwarfy death than drowning.

Not as dwarfy as being felled by the Orcish Horde  8)

5th Granite, Early Spring of 261

SIX snatchers were discovered during the largest assault against Relicshield to date.  3 were slain immediately, 2 were chased off, but somehow 1 kidnapper was able to slip by.  Mosus, son of Goden the broker and Edem the carpenter, was only 2 years old when he was snatched away.  His 18 year old sister Goden II, the youngest member of Relicshield's militia, was in the battle, but she had no idea Mosus was anywhere nearby before he was snatched.  His older brother, Edem II, has sworn to join the militia in five years, when he is of age.

Relicshield, pop. 58, Late Summer of 266

Edem II has fulfilled his oath to join the military in memory of his abducted brother Mosus.  Along with his older sister, the axedwarf Goden II, the goblins will pay in blood! Unfortunately, as Relicshield gains one soldier, it loses another - Dodok Clawsack, the eagle-eyed marksdwarf from last year's siege :(.

As Dodok was laid to rest, the humans returned... but bearing gifts, rather than swords (or giant snails).

Peace was granted and trade returned to normal.  As a nod to widower Ushrir Calmedbust, the minecart route where Dodok struck first blood was named after her.

Had my first major uncontrolled infection.  Hind portion of a caravan got hot by a cloud, and I sent some marksdwarved to handle the unquestionably slower ash zombies.  Unlike murdered reanimations, which are fast and aggressive, and spawned undead, which are slower than a dwarf, the ash zombies are so slow they are almost benign.  Except the civies still.run, and and punctures of the skin lead to infection.

Anywho a few marksmen forgot bolts and one still had his obsidian short sword for some reason. The fresh dead got up and turned the fight. I disbanded the routed squad for one survivor.

This aside and being rather new to evil weather I wonder if my experience is normal?  slow cloud zombies and mostly free reign above ground so long as caution is used?

27 assorted named weapons and shields, 10 artifacts, 10th year of the fort. Either I'm building wealth incredibly slowly, or I've just been unlucky getting moods. At least they have all been useful in some way (only one possession, and made a wooden figurine, and it was a kid who got moody).

Wealth has just broken 1.5mil, and steel armor will be produced soon for all the melee dwarves. That should help bump things up a bit.

Moods are based on number of tiles revealed (ie dug-out) just fyi, trying digging out another level to your fort.

So I got a message about a forgotten beast: an enormous condor with mandibles and a noxious secretion. Luckily there was no way the condor could enter my fort as I had sealed all accesses to the cavern.

Fast forward six months.

No condor to be seen, I want to expand my magma forges, so I pierce the cavern wall to channel some more magma to my forge areas. Of course, I forgot to build a new wall to replace the old one. And of course, the condor decided to make a visit. Mind you, I have 57 dwarves but a really weak militia, mainly copper weapons, very little armour (I was just starting my metal industry, found my first metal ores at z-40, while the magma pool was much higher), way too little military training for my dwarves.

And I managed to slay the beast with just one casualty.

That was because my expedition leader / miner was visiting the magma forges at just that time. One hit with a pick and the condor was unable to fly due to a damaged right wing. Then a bunch of ordinary freshly drafted dwarves (I drafted everyone because I was ready to go out in style) jumped on the immobile bird and began to punch and strangle and wrestle it. The condor managed to tear someone's artery to make him bleed to death in a few seconds, but apart from that it landed maybe three or four hits total. In the end the heroic expedition leader had enough mercy to deliver the last fatal blow to the surprisingly weak megabird.

I'm quite happy, the first forgotten beast I've managed to kill.

Edit: and now a mere hunter headshotted a kobold thief from miles away with a bone bolt, is this Sparta or something

Oh, I've got a massive marble layer carved out for raw materials, bedrooms and noble rooms for 240+, a huge dining room and food production complex just above that, all in marble. Plus i've got 2 cavern layers revealed, and 2 soil layers hollowed out for tree farms. I should have plenty of tiles revealed.

Can't hurt to get more though!

New world gen - looks like dwarves did well since there are 7-8 dwarf civilizations active.

Random location on world selected and the outpost of Swordgleams is founded in an area that only promises flux stone and deep metal.  Oh, and an aquifer as well.  Looks to be a mix of hot jungle and scorching savannah with a fair amount of trees.  Generally flat area with some scattered ponds (half of which dry up).

The settlers embark with an extra supply of wood and stone to help with the initial aquifer issue.  Plus some ore and coke for making initial tools and armor for defense.

Clay and silt levels lead to the aquifer - which is in red sand.  A pump is assembled and some of the dwarves prepare to drive a stairway through the sand.  Meanwhile, the rest of the dwarves gather wood, dig a perimeter ditch, and establish temporary quarters in the two dry soil layers which they unload the wagon into.  The wildlife has been relatively benign and shy.  A tiger and another large cat seen, but they avoided contact.  A honey badger was chasing the herbalist around, so a woodcutter was given some armor and sent out to put it down.

First two migrant waves brought in fourteen additional adults, no children, and some livestock.  Also included two skilled carpenters, a skilled blacksmith, and a trained engraver.

The two-layer aquifer was penetrated in mid-autumn and at that point extra miners were added in order to start digging out chambers and workshop space below the aquifer.  No ore located yet, but chalk and marble has been found.  The sand layer should be accessible somewhere for a sand supply, and one of the dry soil layers is a usable clay type. 

As stone blocks become more available the perimeter is being walled in as well as some protected tunnel for the trade caravans to use.

Two dwarves have already been given weapons and set to train.  Which proved useful when kobolds started turning up in late winter.

Meat is probably not a issue now since three rhinoceros have just run into the cage traps protecting the main entrance.

The Year2 Spring migrant wave has raised the population of Quakeswallowed from 15 to 46 dwarves. Thankfully, I had already split my Original7 and 4 others into a separate sub-fort, so I won't need to worry about any future tantrum spirals. Which is good, because I'm not sure the main fort has enough food for all the new migrants...
