I built a very large magma cistern with some spaced out smelters lined up.  After the cistern filled, I started channeling and got the bright idea to take away the spacing and fit in a few more smelters.  The last one I built channeled into the wall between the cistern and the furniture storage, melting about a hundred stone pots the legendary stonecrafter built when I put him on repeat and forgot about him.  Losing dozens of masterworks pushed him over the edge, so he decided to take out his anger on a tame giant desert scorpion, ending the spiral before it had a chance to really get going.

Modded Dwarf blood to cause a syndrome, of course which the Dwarves are immune to.

It makes their blood add the tag [LIKES_FIGHTING] to anything it gets in contact with or is ingested by.

Half my Fort rains Dwarf blood.

Oh boy, modding is Fun.

Three or four goblins kill pretty much my whole fort. I abandon/reclaim and their leader is still there--but now he's friendly. WTF?

He'll be friendly until another goblin ambush/thief shows up. Then he'll remember whose side he's on and kill everyone all over again.

I also believe they may ignore traps.

I had a very similar problem. Actually, the only difference is it was Urist McCarpenter cancelling. Cause aquifer = no stone.

Just remove the build order, and resend it using a stone from further away.

It's a dwarf.  Their natural habitat is "trapped on the wrong side of a wall".

Flinging children halfway across the map to land in magma is good, wholesome fun, but extramarital reproduction?  Why, that's just unseemly!

A cave crocodile got sick of the caves, killing a few dwarves in its mad rush to the surface.

This is the second time that's happened.

Dwarves of Mabdukanam is digging, diggind and digging. But there is no gold, silver, iron; even cooper. We have dug deep. But we found only zinc. My best weapon is only bone crossbow. Traders only bring cooper weapons.

İnstead of iron, i have too much gems. İf i could make weapons out of gems, i had dominate the world.

Or you can do as I did: draft all men to the military, set all women to the regular jobs.
Send all the men to the danger room with exactly 1 shield and regular clothes.
Lose two thirds of your men, honor the survivors.

They get pretty badass too. Just had a FB in the third cavern layer (fort is 2 years old, 30 dwarves strong). It escaped somehow. I was pretty sure I had blocked all paths? Anyway, this FB gets on a rampage and is moving quickly up the main exploratory shaft. I got to know about it because I saw an annoucment about one of my craftdwarves getting killed while making glass serrated disks.
So I send my military. They all have their (wooden) shield, their clothes, and nothing else.
Well, the fight was rather short. The FB got brained by a kick very very fast.
I was really surprised.

I decided to pospone the toying in order to concentrare on finishing the gobbo grindhouse.
I want a 1-tile corridor full of Spikes, with 10 z-levels open space on both sides.
I am afraid the Trolls would not dogde and instead destroy the pressure plates, though. Maybe having a pattern like Spike-Plate-Spike-Plate, where each plate is linked to the previous Spike would work.

Currently playing with a new world I made to do the forgotten beast art contest with. (needed a FB)

In the midst of creating a crazy bridge across an ocean to a volcano.  Contemplating seeing if I can use DFhack's liquids function to lay obsidian in Adventure mode.
Will try that after I finally reach the edge of the map of the current embark area. If I can lay obsidian tiles and walls without needing to be in fortress mode, I can get that bridge up REALLY fast. :D

(there is a series of volcano islands out in the middle of a saltwater ocean's natural harbor formation. I think the area would make for a GREAT series of embark sites, if I can link them with the mainland.)

Razorfist is in its first winter.  Initial seven dwarves have been reinforced by an additional thirteen migrants. (Only 3 children, and one already became an adult.)  The dwarven caravan arrived and departed without incident, though a kobold thief was sighted within the outpost shortly afterwards and chased out.

The Magma Sea and two caverns have been located and magma channels connected to the former are being filled for the Foundry to use.  Haulers are also starting to move sandbags and clay downwards for use as well in preparation of kilns and glassworks being set up as well.

Top Side the post has a perimeter ditch and gate.  And the entrance to the fort itself has been bunkered in around the butcher and tanner workshops.  There is also some small surface crop plots in place, though the supply of seeds is currently limited.  Wild boar have been sighted nearby, so the hunters will be sent out to see if some additional meat can be acquired.  And the mason are working on a perimeter wall and surface fortifications as stone block becomes available.

Only ore found so far is tetrahedrite.  Miners have been busy in any case cutting out rooms for industrial and residential purposes.  Hopefully most of the population can move deeper soon from temporary quarters in the soil layer.  The "catch-all" storage situation can also be broken up more efficiently at that time as well.
