After many bugs - and many, many abandoned forts - I finally created the Gem Refinery!  I can make diamonds now, woot.

Embarked on a longer-lasting fort.  Oh god, it rains malodorous slime that blisters everything it touches.  Not lethal, but my militia commander is now completely blind.  Also zombies, have created a drop chute to take care of corpses.

The only metals on the map are gold and adamantine.  Literally.  Wow.  Not even like...tetrahedrite or something.

Edit: Also now due to the slime the entire map is vivid purple.  It's kind of pretty.

My 100+ dwarf fort was down to 1 functional dwarf due to an invasion. Now it's back to 6 with a migrant wave. It was 7 earlier, but another invasion killed the lone survivor. Thankfully, the invasion was deterred by the caravan guards.

There are SO MANY BODIES all over the place. There are going to be lots and lots and lots of ghosts soon.

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

More death. Didn't even have a healing summon. Completely wiped.

That's all I can say, since it happened so BLOODY FAST.

Do you always look at it in ASCII?

You get used to it, I don't even see the ASCII.  All I see is blacksmith, miner, goblin.

Had a Boatmurdered moment:

The lower half of my hold is on fire... AGAIN.  One forbidden door stands between the rest of my fort and one fiery cat of doom.

Two of my 5 dwarves just lost a hand to violent ghosts.

Fortunately, I got 22 migrants this season. Thank god!

Started a new fortress recently, randomly named Godlymanor. Presumptuous? We'll see how long this place lasts, and I'll tell you heheheh.

I do like the name though. I want this to become the capital :)

Slowly starting to try to reclaim the surface because I want to farm sliver bards damn it.  It is entirely purple.  The amount of purple is mindboggling.  It is all malodorous slime.

Blind militia commander is still alive, but I relieved him from duty after he broke both of his hands and his right elbow fighting monsters without sight.  My doctor is getting a lot of experience at least.

The two giant crow corpses outside have been there since the beginning.  They just hover at the top of the volcano, waiting.

Also, STOP "RESTING INJURIES" DAMN IT.  I don't care if every single part of you is a red wall of blisters, I don't care that your eyes are blistering, build me that wall!  All you do is lay in bed until the doctor looks at you and go "Yep, them's blisters all right" and then you go about your business.  Ffffff.  Even if every single one of you becomes blind, I want that wall built!

Scrapped a world after proving in-satisfactory.

Dicked around with world gen and got some....very interesting results.

All races present. The entire ocean is a good biome, and There is only one major continent, with good splattered here and there. There are several large splotches of evil, including a evil mountain range. The continent has a large central mountain range, and there are volcanoes everywhere on this world.

One interesting thing to note: It seems the dwarfs are dieing out in the world. The year is 347 or something like that and there are only two dwarf civs. One hugging the Northwest side of the central mountain and one hugging the south east of the central mountain.

I've gone with the south east civ and found a nice mirthful site (also to the south east.), though it possesses an aquifer, I should find a way to make a decent fort.

Every dwarf, every dwarven man, women, and child, that comes to our forts will die there; it's truly sad when you think about it. And we ask our selves, why? Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.

Such a beautiful shade of royal purple.

But I must ask, what are the side effects of this crap?

It is a very fabulous map, yes.

But I must ask, what are the side effects of this crap?

Slight fever and blistering on every body part it touches.  Every part.  There's at least one that's gone blind from "his left eye tissue is blistered, his right eye tissue is blistered".

Fabulous, but deadly.

Waterspear population has (hopefully) topped out at 207 for now.  Thirty migrants just came in along with the Queen of the Subtle Stake.  Another half dozen legendary fighters (4 generated "royal escort" and 2 previous fort historical figures - one with 188 kills from early history and another dozen or so in the earlier fort.)

Royal quarters were already prepared and the queen moved right in.  Just have to get one more cabinet forged and put in place.  Most interesting items are probably the artifact gabbro bed and a masterpiece marble table that the jewelers have been encrusting with gems for a number of months.  The table now has a value of 39,500 db and the "backup" table is worth about 26,000.  The table is sort of a history since a number of events are depicted on it; mainly humans at first, but eventually it starts depicting dwarves and constructed artifacts.

Housing for everyone else is a bit of a squeeze right now - some are bedding down in the ward of the hospital while a few more rooms are prepared.  Food and booze supplies are ample, and, if anything, the extra appetites might help bring stocks down to a more controllable level.

Forges and clothiers are working full out to get uniform clothing prepared.  The additional militia members will use up the remaining armor stocks, so more will have to be made.  Luckily a new hematite vein was discovered a few months back and the iron and steel stocks have been built up.

Goblins have been avoiding the fortress the past few seasons.  A few kobolds seen, but they scampered away once detected.

Blasted dwarves elected one of my captains as the new mayor, which means I have to put the squad out of action each time a diplomat shows up. I don't fancy disassembling it all to get him out.

Life in the military does some perculier things to you. For whatever reason, he insists on conducting meetings through a door
