i have walled up my entrance and i am growing fungiwoods...yeah i think im safe with the 1000 dorf population, if that fails the steel of the milita will come to the monsters!

... How?!

And so the Dwarves discovered they were in fact living inside a -dolomite hive-, which itself stood within an even larger Dwarf Fortress...

And so one of the greatest nongame mindfucks of all time was uttered.

witch the fort was in an even bigger hive in a bigger fort...and so on

Mosrod Ishlum - The Shame of Nuts - has fallen.

How did it die?
Not to an overwhelming siege.  Nor a loyalty cascade or tantrum spiral.

No, it was something more nefarious and final.

A boot sector crash.

Choices:
1: revive from weekly system back-ups and go back in time 4 IG-years.
2: gen a new world and start afresh at a new location.

Either way, a week off from the game first.

Cheerz and Beerz.

Ninja Edit: Broken again.

Went to the trouble of laying out a minefield of cage traps to catch a wolf pack. The completly ignored them. All i got was some dead wolves that picked fights with off duty marksdorfs.

well anyway my expedition leader entered a strange mood and made "Winnowedamazed the Reticent Owner" an andersite quern. It's not the most interesting artifact I've seen but at least I wanted someone to make a quern.

Playing as minimally modded kobolds. It's interesting trying to survive with the [BONECARN] tag. My usual defensive playing style has become obsolete now that outsiders must die to feed my minions, but outright combat is a very bad idea for a race of puny empaths, and traps aren't an option either. Currently I'm trying to train up some hunters while subsisting on butchered pack animals.

After I finish culling my animal herds, I am going to begin my plan to invade hell, codenamed OPERATION: EVICTION. Because everything under this fort belongs to this fort and those stupid clowns haven't paid thier rent.

I've been looking on the wiki to see how to increase specific attributes but all it lists is cross training.  Anyone know where to find what I'm seeking?

I'm going to try to create a fortress of immortal vampiredwarves in a haunted glacier using minecarts and slaves migrants to do the heavy work while the vampdwarves dedicate themselves to military work. The migrants taht survive the longest will be turned into vampires as well.

I like to think haunted glaciers sound like this.

Clearing out the caverns, the place is infested with blind cave ogres. Only interesting thing that happened was my militia captain getting his left arm bitten off mid fight. Finished killing two ogres, took his arm up to the refuse pile, then went to the hospital to get his broken foot looked at. I was about to remove him from the military when I saw him watching a demonstration in the barracks. I guess he really likes his job.

Cryptdagger has finished its ninth year.  Two more goblin sieges ground into dust.  The militia has rounded into shape and the marksdwarf units are performing quite well (one unit of three elite snipers, two units of 6-7 that are average Level 8 or so).  The axe dwarves have been outshined so far by a squad of sword dwarves and the two 2-dwarf mace units.  The latter usually act as escort for marksdwarf units that are hunting straggling goblins on flying mounts.  Lots of kill shots on stuff brought to earth and crippled by bolts.  But they also keep the marksdwarves from getting into melee with goblin riders.

To improve the looks of the surface the mayor and his advisors decided to build a road.  There is now a north-south connection across the embark.  Paved with electrum bars and edged with bauxite blocks.  The river is bridged by a span of clear glass walled with green glass.  These materials were selected as emblematic of the resources of Cryptdagger.  Clay is already well represented on the surface by the brick walls and pavement in the Outer Keep.

And the cages were cleaned out by dumping our naked goblin prisoners into the 1st cavern level.  Not much there right now - except a Forgotten Beast made out of ice...
