A were-gecko just attacked, biting one recruit before being chased off by the entire population of my fortress.
Then as I designated a bed for a "Hospital" the recruit suddenly went into a possesed mood, and, without the ability to grasp or stand claimed a craftsdwarfs workshop, and began working on a construction. Then he transformed into a were-gecko, while continuing to work, scaring everyone out of my workshops, then finished his microline crown and turned back. Now able to stand and grasp, he continues work.
And I can't designate him to be killed...

That's.... You need to try and make a were-gecko army.

Not just were-gecko, but a whole army of ANY were-creature. Just be wary when the goblins bring silver swords and spears...

My fortress of ponies are currently being idiots, and instead of trading with the traders there using all four of their hooves to maul a poor giant leopard pup. Hopefully someone will throw something and kill the traders so I can just take their plants.

EDIT

Somepony went insane and killed everyone. Amazing.

I'd love to make a were army, but My men tend to prefer killing them before they can even defend themselves...

Update on my last story, he turned back, natrually I sent my entire fortress to murder him with thier collective fists, around that time my storeroom and farms flooded, and now everyones beating everyone else to death, strangely, no one has gone bezerk...

I think this proves that dwarves will use any excuse to murder each other.

EDIT1: From 17 to 6 and going down...

EDIT2: Oh, tantrums can cause murder too...

ok so i started this new embark like normal and started my miners mining and my woodcutters chopping.... well in the middle of summer as everything was going smoothly 8 raptors appear and proceed to kill 5 of my founding 7 dwarfs. My first reaction is to put them into a millitia and try to keep them alive. So while these two brave miners are defending themselves from the raptors in the main hall a group of migrants arrive and one of them is a hunter. My first thought was to draft these new migrants to help the two founders fight the raptors back and it worked...... well sort of.

The migrants ran up and the hunter dropped two raptors with clean headshots before being ripped to death by two more while everyone else is beating on the other raptors with fists and picks. lets just say when the raptors where defeated the surviving three dwarfs proceeded into a tantrum spiral and killed each other.

Genesis and Masterwork

(masterwork) An elf fanatic tried to abduct a baby from it's mothers arms. The mother was a member of the militia with over thirty kills. She tore the elfs head off in her teeth, spit it out, took her baby out of the bag, and then went to a party.

Year 2 of Skullsgate a bit passive, but still a few issues.

Lack of pants on immigrant waves still an issue.  Finally "fixed" by making a military uniform called "JUST PANTS" and drafting all citizens in order to get them wearing.  However, it took a while for clothes production to catch up since I had 2-3 large waves of migrants.  (Finished the year with 91 dwarves, 83 adults and 8 babies.)  Low morale and dwarf tantrums have been the most obvious thing in this fort.  Hopefully things will stabilize now.

Things were topped off by a unhappy dwarf throwing a tantrum while the annual dwarf caravan was coming in. He *destroyed* the Trade Depot, and the caravan turned around and left.  (An unfortunate wagon was killed in the accident as well - so I ended up with a pile of goods for free.  But wasn't able to trade for military-class metal supplies like I need.)

Military starting to train up, but short on armor, weapons, and everything but time.  Two small three dwarf melee squads are trained to level 6-7; so they will be split soon to keep one as the trainer for more squads and the others will be a combat group.  Other defenses are slowly taking shape, but hampered by a lack of trap components.  Dependent on locking doors, watch animals, and keeping bridges up when not in use.  Still working out how to handle a wagon road that can't be trapped.

No goblins sighted so far, but two kobold thieves were discovered by a watch dog and then chased by a war-trained giant toad who was pastured nearby.

Industry is ramping up, but mainly for internal consumption so far.  Farms are churning out materials for drinks and cloth while the workshops and kilns make pots.  Mining has produced decent amounts of lead, silver, and gold.  The latter two are being oriented towards trade goods.  As a test the poultry industry is centered on peahens for egg production.  Not a prolific as turkeys, but they mature faster.   3rd generation just hatched.  The extra males are being slaughtered for food and leather, or being posted near the exits as early warning posts.

BOOM double post for the thread bump so others can see our retarded antics.

Decided to give corrosion one more go, and after a few months of hectically getting all non famring established I was informed my founding chicken shit, nicked Marathon, has made a masterwork baseball bat and I was informed of the following things being found on the first week of scavanging.

I'd say a fair haul of metal for blind luck. SCAVANGERS! DEPLOY!

2 Deadly Dust FBs that had been hanging out in my caves for years suddenly decided to make a beeline for my fort at the same time. My entire military is now dead, all their friends (meaning most of the fort, since I've been using Fastdwarf) are angry and tantrumming, and the only new military I have are a few peasants and dabbling marksdwarves. This is too depressing. I'm going to play Deathgate for a while.

Hey Bay12 Community,

months long lurker here, reporting for the first time :)

I have just tried embarking in the caves (trading was the only interaction with the surface).
After I carved out some workshop areas and living quarters, I opened up to the madness. 1 giant olm came to test my dorfs and got killed quickly by my milita commander. Some weeks later a troll appeared and just as he was busting down my frontdoor my three man militia rushed him, but he took out 2 unarmored dwarfs. That was more like I expected this enterprise ^^

Things went smooth for a while. I built up working industries and was just establishing my magma forges when the first forgotten beast arrived. It had poisonous dust and blinded my whole marksman squad, who thought to rush in with copper crossbows and fists. Something was amiss, obviously. Anyway, my choleric hero militia captain finished the beast and was from then on revered by my dorfs!

Well, this wouldn't be DF if the rng just gave me a flying glas fb with deadly dust some months later. I was just outfitting my troops when it killed my whole army and then ravaged my fort.
I had some fun!! watching it chase my dorfs but then abandonned.
I was preparing a chamber with spiketraps and magmaflooding for them, but they hit me way too early. I dont know about my created wealth and stuff, but I should have thought a bit smaller and compact and with more focus on the most important things. And which weapon type would have been good against a glass beast btw, blunt?

Well, here we go, new fort ;) But not another cavern embark for now ^^

Yeah probably blunt. I had some guys armed with mauls beat the crap out of a web spitting white jade worm thing a few weeks ago.

Corn harvest planted, pigs and waterbuffalos penned, chickens beginning to breed, and for no good reason I am cutting all my concrete into blocks and building a two floor bunker/pillbox. Oh and we captured a kestrel in the traps meant for the local alligators.

And within the first two seasons before migrants, our speedy coward Marathon is a legendary weaver. This is a first for me... And thank you star spiders, because my cats were kind enough to leave you alone we have enough cloth to reclothe the settlement a dozen times over as it stands.

We also have a few suits of tire armor, titanium machetes and tons of sharpened sticks for emergencies, and wood bracers along with proper uniforms (A shirt, jacket, pants, gloves, combat boots, and a patrol cap except for the commander who got a titanium  WWI hard cap.)
