okay.....my fortress was going well. I just got attacked by something like 200 undead elf and human body parts. I sent in my military (consisting of hastily conscripted peasants!) and was able to get rid of most of the zombies and necromancers  (I didn't even realise I had a necromancer tower near me). Next minute I look at the units page and there are another hundred or so undead! And to top it off, Pictham Kopohrakbin the werechameleon has arrived. It's fat and is crazed for blood. !!FUN!!

Edit: And even amongst all the blood, violence, mutilated corpses, flying dog paws and tantrumming children, people are still popping out babies....

Oh my, sounds like fun! Might be time to wall off a few survivors and hope everything goes away. :P

Meanwhile in Oilpalm, well, having no metals in the area I gave a big pile of 2nd hand clothing (thankyou, honoured dead!) to the traders in exchange for various weaponry. It hasn't helped too much... The endless swarms of troglodytes continue. It's hard to focus on getting a barracks built and industries started when the ugly things keep swarming up to cause trouble. :-\
I think it's time to just abandon the caverns all together.

Edit: Oh gods! My dwarves had finally managed to kill all but one of the fuckers, and were just about to finish off the one remaining, when right before my eyes I see more of them running into the cavern from the map's edge.  :-[ A whole herd of them. This probably won't end well, I have two combat-ready dwarves down there.

Editedit: Well, another wave of troglodytes have been beaten off, but at what cost? We lost two dwarves in the fighting, and another is badly injured. We have no trained doctors, how long will we be able to keep this up?
(In my units list there are now 75 dead troglodytes. This is what, my second year at this fort?  :o It seems like more, though.)

New fort just passed it's 1st anniversary;  Nekolinod aka "Skullsgate".

Placed on flat terrain right at a river source.  Digging has discovered a single layer of clay, multiple layers of chalk, and then layer stone down into the caverns where layers of marble have appeared.  Metal ores discovered so far are galena and native gold.  Magma and a adamantine spire discovered recently as well when the Magma Sea was found about 36 levels down.

Major handicap so far is lack of metal for weapons and armor.  Militia training with what is available for now, and defenses are cage trap dependent for now.

Odd thing has been all migrants showing up without any trousers on.  This was missed initially and a tantrum issue arose.  By the time this settled five dwarves were dead.  And farming has been slow to get the cloth industry going.

Now to check what's going on with the twenty-four migrants who just turned up!

I just got sieged.... by ONE single squad of hammer globins. Heh. Kinda small for a siege, especially the last ambush had 3 ambush parties involved.

I couldn't take it. Amkash has ben euthinised with a drawbridge. FInally the spam is gone....

EDIT: Beginning to set up facilities to raise a second company from older citizens. Also a weaver reported spotting a second spire of spoilerite, so I'll need to build a palace in pretty short order because I suspect either this season or next spring the monarch and thier entourage will arrive to see that which dwarves will risk lives for.

Trying to mod. Specifically, trying to mod in Eevee.

Having to manually do materials and tissues for every body part for 6 castes(3 of each gender, so I only have to do it thrice), since I want Flareon to be fire- and magma-safe and Vaporeon to be slightly cold-resistant. Deleting some stuff I did because I thought I had an easier method, then a few minutes later realizing that it wouldn't work.

Headache ::).

Embarked in a Terrifying Marsh/Swamp area. It constantly rains elf blood.

It constantly rains elf blood.

Anyways, there was an aquifer, so I tried my very first plug breach. And after my miner finished chanelling the sides out in the stupidest manner possible (Dig up, dig down, dig the ground out from underneath himself, fall a story, then run halfway across the map to the ramp up, and back around. repeat.) he somehow got sucked into the hole and managed to drown in the aquifer, as well as creating a hole in the plug that the aquifer still existed in.

But, I also found out something interesting. There was a murky pool on top of the plug. When the plug dropped, the pool slopes remained where they were, floating in midair.  :o

I haven't touched my fort since before the update. I had pretty much everything figured out, with magma smelters and adamantine everythings. Before that, I was attacked by a Forgotten Beast that spewed deadly dust that froze and burned everything it touched and took out 20 of my dwarves in a few seconds. But it was made of water, so it was killed by a brave hammer-dwarf in one hit.

i jsut embarked on a cave, and not onyl did the stupid dorfs manage to get the wagon parked INSIDE the first chamber of the cave, past the 1-tile-wide entryway and ramps, but the cave comes stocked with 65 112 human, dwarf, and goblin "friendlies."

They're all members of the nearby human civ, too. I wanted to send an adventurer here to check it out but they died on the way.

Woo! Free defenses!

I should check legends mode and see what's up with the cave...

Hah..that was..interesting. I finally got rid of the creepy undead things and Picthablahblah the werechameleon. My fortress was doomed anyway, people were running around tantrumming with no pants on. I couldn't face returning to the Mountainhomes empty handed, so I sent in the remaining miners and made a last ditch attempt at the great riches below.

It didn't work.

The last survivor of Roastedroughness was a 3 year old girl. She was locked in a small room. It was quite funny when I opened the door and all manner of evil things swarmed in and annihilated her.

Well, a desert titan showed upa dn spewed fire all over the place. Came very close to losing absolutely everyone to its ‼firey wrath‼, but luckily I managed to have 14 of the 17 dwarves fall back to the staging area while the humans and their citizens distracted valiantly defended us from the beast. It rampaged throughout he cave and slaughtered everyone and their uncle, and all my sheep and horses.

On the plus side, I seem to have gained a new badass superhero: Firelord the hammerdorf, and his ‼(Alpaca wool cloak)‼ He doesn't seem to be dying from the extreme awesome of his cloak, yet.
