The youth of Ringbronze are rebelling.  As babies become children, they are starting to become upset about not having clothes.  I'm having lots of children go insane over it.  Is this a recent feature?  I remember seeing discussion about it being something that would be important soon, but I didn't think it was yet.

Other than that, just lots of construction going on.

AFter being patrched up, Hugo seems right and ready for battle, and he finally has a young girl as a sparring partner! The two just exterminated some emu men.

After trying to ignore the massive animal population, I've looked over the the lists. I sure have alot of bird people. Wren men, Sparrow women. The handlers sure must have alot of bird poo. Do bird people have regular or bird shit?

Thank you. That was 20 seconds more than I ever wanted to spend thinking about fictional human-animal-hybrid excretory systems.

The time has come for the Bronzemark to replace all of its wooden walls, towers and bridges with stone ones, or possibly actual bronze if I can find enough copper and tin ore. This will take a while as one of the walls follows the course of a river.
While deconstructing my three-level guardhouse - training area in a little garden, bedroom inside on the ground floor, food stockpiles on the middle floor, archer overwatch on the top with some ammo - the floor caved in on the dudes who were sleeping below.
No deaths, only a few mild concussions.

Artobducim is flourishing. We got so much magnetite and other ores, that I challenged myself to make a single goblet that can buy out a whole caravan. At the moment, the highest value is 2640☼ for a masterwork iron goblet with bands of masterfully worked copper and masterful silver spikes. Gold and platinum will be added and I think, there are some gems, but I need to train my gemsetter first.

Other than that, I'm happy that the goblins came back. They sent a tiny siege in our third year and seemed to be gone forever after that. Then suddenly in year 5, when I opened the outer wall for another building project, there were 2 sieges in 3 months and both had several squads of bowgoblins riding giant cave swallows - so much fun! Nobody except a few dogs and children died, so it's no problem, but I need more crossbows for future invasions.
I'm actually glad about the dead children this time... Artobducim got 155 dwarves now and 68 (sixty-eight!) of them are children. Yep, almost half of the population is under 12 years old and every year there are at least 15 more. A few of the migrant kids grew into peasants already, but I'll probably throw them down the new execution tower. If one should survive the 20z fall, he's worthy of living in this glorious fortress, otherwise it's just another sacrifice for the great god Armok.

The Forgotten Beast Ozo has come!  A great eyeless tarantula.  It has a knobby shell and it appears to be emaciated.  Beware its poisonous bite!

Well, that was actually 5 or 6 years ago. But today, in a quest for framerate and masterwork forbidden beast roasts, the entire military was stationed near the curtain wall in the caverns and a brave dwarflet who drew the short straw dismantled a short stretch of wall, letting the beast in.

The fight was brief, but not quite one-sided. After Sigun Gesisåblel twisted his spear around in Ozo's abdomen, the monster charged him, knocked him over, seized his  arm in its mandible and shook him around until the arm was ripped off at the shoulder. The beast fell quickly after that, finally succumbing to a kick to the brain from an axelord.

Poor Sigun, on the point of fainting, staggered back upstairs. To the hospital? Nope. To the booze stockpile. I don't blame him for needing a stiff drink but that would have been my second action. Questioned, he shrugged it off as a mere flesh wound.

Quote
Sigun Gesisåblel has been happy lately. He had a truly decadent drink lately. He slept without a proper room recently. He was enraged by long patrol duty recently.  He dined in a legendary dining room recently. He has been satisfied at work lately. He slept uneasily due to noise lately. He admired a very fine statue lately. He had a satisfying sparring session recently. He sustained minor injuries recently.

His right upper arm is gone.

That reminds me of my most badass worker ever, named Nomadicjews after a friend's gamertag on Xbox live. A giant beetle tore off his arm, and his response was to  use a two handed digging implement with one hand to to kill it, finish shaping the cavern garden, and then make a month's worth of mugs. With one hand.

EDIT: Evidently several kobolds died at an undetermined time of old age. An entire ambush worth, mostly composed of bowmen, a wrestler and a spearman. Either that or there's a really nasty flock of birds roaming the untamed wilds, because there was no report of it but they showed up dead  after a flock of giant crows left the map. Either way, free shit, so I won't complain.

I got bored and threw a venemous snake in the garbagedwarf dormitory. It attacked a sleeping peasant woman and bit her in the face about a thousand times before one of the miners got tired of the noise and cut it's head off with his pick. She's undergone surgery to have most of her head removed and six sutures with upwards of thirty sutures still on the itinerary.

In other news a baby that was attacked by a harpy has grown into a child and his first words were "I have been in horrible pain for a year why haven't any of you taken me to the hospital?" He then promptly passed out from the pain and was dragged to the hospital.
