So this might not be much, but it is for me. I've been playing much adventure mode and haven't tried much fortress mode. But now I am finally getting the hang of fortress mode. So I am quite happy.  :) On-topic: My fortress is doing just fine even though I haven't yet started my gaining wealth.

...What happens if you remove eyes from dwarves now?
Same as .31, except with worse rolls and generally what you'd expect happens when you give a blind guy an axe and tell him to chop down a tree. Heads roll, and not enemy ones either.
So in a few words, funny as hell?
Yeah, but it won't do well for any super soldier programs :P

Compared to some forts I;ve heard of, that's pretty tame.
There are those forts, and there are worse forts. His reminds me of my forts - even with goblin sieges, just get marksdwarves and train up a proper army.

Hmmhmm, I got finally destroyed by Magma swapping upwards occasionally. Someone got injured, someone wanted to save him, and well, so the spiral of death started.

Next time: Don't obsidianize the top layer of a magma spire and try to use that layer for a magma powered industry. I never thought that magma may rise up again, but it does. Even if slowly, but still enough to cause havoc to those wandering around there.

Next lesson learned. I should have known it, it was way to easy in the first way and much too tempting.

My magma reservoir overflowed into the dining hall because half the fortress was on break and wouldn't pull the lever to shut the floodgate.

Granted, there's an age difference of only a year, but one of my dwarves became romantically involved with his aunt.

My legendary bowyer died while trying to hunt a giant cave spider. To my astonishment he managed to take the thing down with him.

The zombies wont but the necromancers will get bored and leave eventually.

A migrant wave and a Hydra Megabeast both showed up within thirty seconds of each other and in the exact same spot of the map. The Hydra had a great deal of fun slaughtering the incoming migrant workers, who just kept on appearing on the map as if they were sides of beef delivered by conveyor belt.

Than a heroic hunter dwarf, who was hauling back a giant thrips corpse, spotted what was going on and engaged the Hydra in an attempt to save the remaining migrants. It promptly bit his head clean off his shoulders. The next migrant to appear was a Blacksmith with no training in combat whatsoever. Running up to the body of the hunter and grabbing the crossbow out of its hand, the Blacksmith turned to engage the Hydra with her pilfered weapon.

With no bolts to fire and no idea what the f-ck she was doing, the Blacksmith charged the Hydra and smashed the copper crossbow down onto its foot, crushing the bone. Sidestepping away from the counterattack, the female Blacksmith ducked around behind the Hydra and smashed the copper crossbow into its spine, shattering the bone and rendering it paralyzed from the waist down.

It took several minutes for me to get my military dwarves up to the surface as I had them prowling the caverns when the Hydra arrived. By the time they arrived the female Blacksmith had shattered four of the Hydra's seven skulls and had broken most of the bones in its body, all without suffering a single injury herself. She has since been put in charge of her own squad, in the hopes that her abilities would rub off on my freshest batch of recruits.

{{I'm about to get my 12th artifact}} - Zaneg Savotkilrud, Mason is taken by a fey mood!
Claims a mason's workshop.
Fetches a boulder af Galena.
Begins construction.

WTF!

Edit:Something for the mayor's office....just to shut him up.
Although it has one of the best names I've seen generated for a while, not that that makes up for sheer waste of a mood.

After constructing a lava dispenser for the world, and a goblin killing tower, I got bored, and made the dining room in Gearedsoldier a danger room with feather wood spears and pressure plates. So far the casualties have been small animals.
