incE had a rediculous amount of dactite blocks, courtesy of my forgetting about a repeat block order, I've begun building doublethick walls and towersa around my settlment, and eventually replacing my windmill with a waterwheel mill, so I can mpower more millstines with less effoirt and install a northbound road.

Also captured a cave croc male, finally industrialized my cloth production, with three workers gathering silk fulltime and sheep being sheared constantly. We've become familiar with naked moledog training and my mayor has bonded with the entire pack we caught. GOt mountains of fish and plants, so I'm going to have more prepared meals made, since our legendary cook killed himself wached and we have no barrels to spare anyway for booze. Memorialized half the siegers as well as placing tombstones above my own dead. And 1st squads most junior axelord named his halberd.... The fondled soul.... I don't wanna know what he's been doing with that thing at night.

Looks like you get to find out!

The answer appears to be no. My poor war lion, despite seemingly having recovered, shortly afterwards became faint and then dropped dead, immediately before his litter was born, ensuring a continuing line of inbred noble war lions at Dwellrampart.

My Dwarven Fortress is going along very nicely! Even without access to any metals (thus far). Trade is booming thanks to countless gems and wood supply, and my military fought off a number of ambushes and sieges.

Honorable mention to my Marksdwarves/Hunters who killed off a giant and groups of goblins alone, while not being even on duty.

Furnacebright continues. The first year saw the beginning of the carving out of the main gatehouse fort and a defensive ditch several Z levels depth. Complete with bridge. The base of the walls are in place. It wont be long till the farming levels inside the fort are completed and furnacebright will be able to withstand any siege indefinitely that does not have fliers. The caravans came and a steel shortsword and a steel anvil was bought with the 3000 or so value of trade goods made from bone and stone. I was going to buy more food and drink. But the sword for my commander was too much to pass up.

Now there are plenty of picks for the miners to speed up the fortress digging further. A grand multi level dining hall with galleries has been mapped out. It will be so huge a mature fort will all be sat with seats to spare. But with the time it will take a makeshift dining hall has been set up in mean time. Along with the barracks to let my militia commander to start practicing those sword skills with his new steel sword. The militia commander has also begun smithing bronze armor for the militia.

The militia commander also beaten several enraged wolverines to death with his fists. And in vain tried to stop the kea menace making off with five of the forts finest wheelbarrows. Which gives me an idea on how to easily set traps for them to tame. A 1 square roofed stockpile containing a wheelbarrow and a covered tunnel lined with cage traps. Failing that. Marksdwarves will show them the error of their ways.

Ongoing goals:

Develop fort and move all supplies and workshops inside the walls.

Set up farming levels. Ensuring food and booze supplies.

Start adding recruits to the militia with decent skills/and/or attributes. ( The last 2 waves have been very susceptible to disease/slow healing fishery workers and such. )

I don't have any vampires if that's what you're assuming. I don't like the concept of my soldiers and metalworkers being killed because some vampire got a bit peckish.

And so the total price has been gathered from the stockpiles, and for 160,000 Urists worth of metal, I gave the mountain homes 186,000 Urists in trade goods and 97,000 Urists in offerings.

I have finally decided what I am to do with all this metal.

For now, I must dig deeper.

It's the second spring and we've had our first fortressborn. He is a boy who is very agile, strong and rarely gets sick. But he heals slowly. No matter, unless something unexpected happens we should have everything covered by then so he'll join the military. I'll have him start pumping and swimming when he's 6, and in the 6 remaining years till he becomes a man he should grow to be a proper soldier.

Now that we've hit the population mark of 41, we can go ahead and start digging a proper fortress for ourselves. We'll start with a bigger masonry/ engineering area first to start with the magmaproof mechanism construction to get the magma pumps started. Or I might even start using the railroads and leave the magma smelters in the magma sea. I like the idea of burrowing my smelting staff near the magma.

I think I'll do that instead, come to think of it. Dumping the stone down to the magma area should be easy enough. Will have to import more featherwood for the minecarts as well to make it easier to carry them back. I'm having enough trouble with my copper bins.

I also just had a human diplomat enter from the surface, hold a meeting, then exit the map via hell.... I guess he thinks he's pretty hardass.
