There is a solid wall....odd.

Anyway, now there's a tree growing in the middle of the meeting area for no apparent reason besides me flooding the whole place for shits and giggles.

that is the reason. Muddied stone cavern floor, even smoothed, will support underground vegetation. Sorry but, DUH!

solid wall... Map edge or slade? Or what?

Jam a door with its corpse and let all the goblins in. Hey, nobody said it had to be a weapon against your enemies.

Oh it's just a soil wall. I guess that's why.

Eh, I'll figure it out myself.

I'm bored, fellow dorfers, and basically brand new to 2012 still!
Therefore, I request somebody suggest me a hilariously terrifying idea for an embark site.

Caught 15 Gobbos from the last siege of my desert city. Now they're just waiting for me to finish the colosseum. Question: Does skin color depend on temperature? Because all of my dwarves spend their days aboveground, and they all have "dark brown" skin.

Nah, soil walls work just fine. Is there a wall directly above the wall next to the up ramp?

yeah, there's a wall there.

It's like this:

WW
WC
WW

W=wall
C=Channel ramp

Yeah no, that won't work. If, say, the lower level is like so:
Code: [Select]
OO
O^
OO
Where O is a wall and ^ is an up ramp, the upper level can only look like
Code: [Select]
OO    OvO
vO or OOO or OOO
OO           OvO
where v is a down ramp and centered on the up ramp from the lower level, with floor beyond it. The dwarf has to be able to walk at the ramp, up to the next z-level, and come out on a passable square (floor or up ramp)

So, not long after my earlier post, Kordesor came under siege. Not really an issue though, not like the dwarves will notice... most of my dwarves haven't seen the light of day for over 10 years... Anyway, that diplo-god I mentioned before... Well, Disem is semi-slaughtering the invading horde mostly goblins with about a dozen trolls along for kicks... I'm wondering how long he'll hold out though, just about every body part he has is red/yellow... but nothing's missing yet. On the other hand I just watched him go into a rage and start troll-tossing...

Weaver cancels sleep: Interrupted by dwarven child.
Dwarven child has been struck down.

yeah, you can work out where it went from there =(

Turns out those fake merchants don't mind going berserk a few years after refusing to leave the map, probably what pushed the weaver to breaking point.

That should be a new type of project, making a rug design in dwarf fortress (With accurate coloring)

This just in from Kordesor!

Siege report: While the siege is still considered to be active, in truth only a few survivors of the original attacking goblin/troll horde remain. That'll teach 'em to mess with a visiting deity, hehe.
