...Elves just killed me.

While I was trading with them, I got two ambushes at once, so I sealed the entrances and started picking them off with bolts. The elves got impatient and started a fight. Somewhere along the line a camel breaks loose and wreaks havoc in my fortress, killing off 3/4ths of the inhabitants before the situation gets back under control.

So I pick off the rest of the ambushers and all's well. I crack open the gates for a bit of wood harvesting and another ambush shows up. Everybody back inside... and evidently, the guy assigned to pull the lever to raise the bridges is the first guy shot, so the doors never close. Sigh.

Lost my beautiful fort of 20-something hours  Not to FUN but to RCP_Eyelids fatal error post update (seen the solution to this, but too late, deleted old world etc etc). Decided to take it out on the first elf caravan that shows up in my new digs

Gonna be annoying if I reach 80 citizens and half of my population is kids when the invasion happens.

Goblin ambush arrives right before the humans come to trade.  The little bastards kill of one of my good marksdwarves.  Well, they all then walked into the cage traps at my gate, so once my pitting chamber is finished, they will be used for military training.

Autumn has been mostly uneventful.  Got a migration wave which brought in a second unwanted vampire.  I think I'll build a hut for him outside, and lock it with a door.  When the goblins come by, and the trolls rip down the door, the vamp can make himself useful.  Damn shame too, he had some basic axedwarf skills, and I was going to start a squad with him.  I might still make him an axedwarf, and keep him locked outside, that should make things more interesting when the gobbos come by.

I have two wounded militia Dwarf who weren't bedded properly when they were rescued. One of them is dying of thirst (which caused my most recent ragequit). I've set both their flasks (both still with some dirnk in it) on dump in hopes of getting someone to water the poor sods.

Edit; miraculously, both have been 'saved' again. Possibly due to the fact I removed the beds from under them, but no-one bothered picking them up then, so I assume that taking the flasks triggered people recognizing them as 'in need' and subsequently bedded both properly. Mucho good.
