It started raining blood in my new embark, which was going great until they decided to clean up in the river. Did I mention that I have a waterfall in said embark, too? Because apparently, dwarven logic dictates that jumping off of said waterfall will increase cleanliness.

I had great plans for that embark, you alcoholics!

Ugh... I had a very pretty embark with a volcano on an ocean shore... an evil ocean shore...

It was great for the couple in-game months that it lasted.  It looked like undead would be an occasional disturbance, but that's exactly what I wanted.  Most of the map wasn't evil and raising everything, so it was a good mix of flavors.

But apparently mist from the ocean waves turns things into thralls.  One creature gets turned into a thrall, and then runs around touching all my dwarves and livestock with its mist residue, turning them into thralls.  It spreads like rage.  I think some of the evil weather could stand to get toned down a bit.  I think the weather event itself is fine, but the potency of the residues it leaves behind is way too much.  This is the third fort I've lost because the entire map gets coated in insta-thrall syndrome.

I just saw a married couple sleeping in the same bed. I thought they couldn't do that  but apparently they can :3

My first dwarf to reach elite status happened yesterday, a marksdwarf. I was quite pleased

But the blithering twat has taken to not shooting at anything and instead running full pelt at a threat at a speed that is considerably faster than the melee team in an attempt to use the crossbow as a bludgeoner. He's now too injured to do anything and I'm scratching my head as to why that happened. There are plenty of quivers and a huge pile of ammo and he never did it before...

Hm. Good point.
Also, is it possible to trade away an artifact?

I just got an artifact mug, and since the traders are still here I wanna get some PHAT LOOTS from it.

Sadly no. I dislike constant showers of useless artefacts.

I mean, an artifact bone spear might not be great but you can at least fight with that.

If you place your artifacts in buildings and your fortress falls, they won't be destroyed. Reclaim said fortress, not only will those artifacts still be there, but you'll also be able to trade them!

My fortress got itself pretty mauled by a zombie horde previously, which encouraged me to create a massive refuse stockpile to complement my dwarf mass grave.

Also, I've decided that my current rate of people becoming vampire food is acceptable in exchange for their service. I'm actually tempted to create a full-on Vampire Counts fort at some later date, where anyone who reaches Great in a skill gets fed vampire blood and everyone else serves as food.

And now said axe lord gave birth to kids.

So do I remove her from the military, or what?

Yes, best retire her from the military until she has more kids. When she has about 3-4 kids, assign her back to the danger room. Give her a good axe.

Finally had to use my hospital for the first time in this embark, two years in.  Clothier was outside attempting to retrieve a zombie raven cage when the zombie raven's buddy jumped on her.  She killed it, but broke her right foot in the process.

Still, it's nice to see hospitals work.  She was scrubbed, dressed, plastered, and now is hobbling around on her crutch at a dismal speed, but she's up and walking and that's the important part.

In other news, my armorsmith has finally reached legendary status, so she's getting access to the adamantine.  Hooray for legendaries!
