Second mood of my new fortress is a secretive weaponsmith. As if that wasn't good enough, he made this:

Heartstone has a solid density of 50500.  :D

Uff da. That's awesome. Plus, vampire art, the volcano of healing, all in heartstone.

One of my dwarves has just come out of the crossdressing closet and created "Lizardgrieves the Vanished Frigidity", a chicken leather skirt.

I've had a giant cave spider caged for a while and while i was wondering what to do with it, an accursed vapor husk dwarf shows up.  VERY contagious.  Caged him and now i will have the most terrifying guard for my fort imaginable: Husk GCS.

A dwarf with only a husband recently had a fey mood and did not get what she wanted, on top of that she had a miscarriage so she has no children due to this, and now she is dying. quite sad to watch. Also i have a stark raving mad vampire just running around doing nothing, i guess that's one way to deal with them?

You'd better get used to having a naked vampire running around your fortress, they'll never die on their own.

After strewing cage traps in random places on the map, I have managed to catch my first non-zombie wildlife, a female two-humped camel.  Yay for more livestock variety!  It has been tamed and added to the pastures.

Still getting lots of zombie cages though.  That's okay, I set them up to spring from their cages in batches and let my steel-and-adamantine-clad military have some live practice.

Once I finish equipping the military, it might be time to open the caverns and clear out those goddamn forgotten beasts.  There's like five flitting around, and at least one on each cavern level.  I need that wood, darn it.

I found a rather nice embark along a mediumish major river. The only problem was that the river was in a steep canyon, and the only flat land was a bit at the top that I spawned on, and a thin strip along the river. The problem identified, I set about making the solution: channel down through 6 z-levels of rock to make flat ground. That problem is now solved, but the current one is finding a way to use 5000 limestone while smoothing my entire fortress and making continual progress on my exterior fortifications.

A squad of sparrow people have been fighting a giant sponge for about a year now....

I'm not sure how I should feel about this.

Kill them, they're taking your training dummy.

Hm. Good point.
Also, is it possible to trade away an artifact?

I just got an artifact mug, and since the traders are still here I wanna get some PHAT LOOTS from it.

Sadly no. I dislike constant showers of useless artefacts.

I mean, an artifact bone spear might not be great but you can at least fight with that.
