Well, a citizen of Marblehalls finally got injured. My mayor/broker and my manager/bookkeeper have one child, Mebzuth Ringglories . . . and when her mom carried her outside the fort to help round up some migrant livestock, a badger took offense and slashed the baby's left upper arm. Even after the wound has healed to a "massive scar," she still has damaged sensory & motor nerves and impaired grasping ability in that hand. And I'm going to have to live with her being a flashing yellow cross for the rest of her life. Seven months old, and she'll never know what it is to get a strong grip with her left hand.

There is one thing she can grasp, though--a shield. She's inspired me to enlist her in the military as soon as she's eligible, train her up a bit, and then make her commander of a squad made up solely of dwarves maimed at the hands of the enemy. Hopefully I can call it "The Crutches of Vengeance" or something like that.

Turns out with the new ramps on rivers, waterfalls become a deadly trap for any dwarf. They try to walk over the river on the high end, slip. and die.  :o

Two migrant waves and a caravan were wiped out by the deadly puddles, the deadly clouds, or deadly zombies. I've sealed off the entrance, this is not a fortress, it's seven dwarves struggling to survive.

Giant mosquitos are talented wrestlers, apparently.
A child keeps walking out to the dead, taking some of their clothing and "storing an owned item."

THIS
IS
DWARF FORTRESS!

Certainly you could argue that DF is a lot like The Sims, only... you know... with more vomit and decapitation.
If you launch a wooden mine cart towards the ocean at a sufficient speed, you can have your entire dwarf sail away in an ark.

My first dwarf died... discovered in the hospital of all places, completely drained of blood.

Also, my bone doctor got a mood and wanted body parts.  Since I had some elves over, I killed one of them with a falling floor... unfortunately, couldn't get him to use elf parts.  Maybe if I had waited for them to rot, but wasn't sure if that would be in time, so ended up with a yak horn animal trap.  Greatly disappointed!  Especially since almost all of my dwarven migrants have killed elves in their past.

Zombie Urist and his pet zombie cat (consisting of nothing but a head, upper body, two front legs and the left front paw) are playing a game of "chase the migrant" with a horde of other zombies including the entire first expedition, some water buffalo, kangaroos and a camel.

I'll bet my axe and two kasks of wine on the migrant dying.

Yep, he's dead. None of these zombies have ever killed an awake, healthy migrant but they corner them and make them starve to death. I've seen all sorts of funny stuff, like someone eating plump helmets by the wagon then a corpse raising next to him and 1-hit-ko'ing him and zombie ravens swarming sleeping dwarves and pecking their face off.

Look at all of your dwarves' histories.  The one who has a huge number of "used to be a member of..  x" or "former member of... x" is the vampire.

i know who the vamp is he is the only 1 left

Wait, your fort is still running even though the only person left is a vamp?

Oh this has so much potential...

You could have a vampire fort, an upper class of vampiric warrior/nobles supported by the "cattle". This must be tested.

Technically speaking he's still a dwarf, and still under your governance, regardless of being living impaired.

There is a one-winged, legless zombie raven flying around and chasing the migrants.

I love this game.

We all do. Though through just embark I assaulted a goblin fortress..... devoid of goblins. Or anything except phantom spiders. And thus slaughterhalls gets no imediate slaughter...

Got a 13 dwarf strong wave of immigrants.

I could connect all but 2 of them in a relationship map. Uncles, Aunts, Nieces and Nephews ahoy!
... a bit awkward to find that one of them is the uncle of my only casualty so far.  :-\

After a brutal skirmish, the first goblin ambush managed to wipe out an entire squad of sworddwarves with bows and arrows, before second squad mopped them up.

Later, a necromancer intruder appeared... a human ranger.  I was unsure what he was trying to do, but my squad went over and killed him, two dwarves sustaining injuries from arrow wounds.

Interestingly, a few z-levels below where I killed the necromancer was where I had buried my dozen or so dead.

My fortress has now been destroyed from within and without by undead, as the refuse pile of goblin corpses all animated, as well as all my buried dwarves.  Destroying the walking corpses repeatedly just saw their now smaller parts reanimate shortly thereafter.  As well, another human necromancer showed up to seemingly run around my fortress doing nothing.  Laughing, I guess.

Crumbs!  I never did figure out who the vampire was, either.
