Due to discussions in another thread, I've set up altars where dwarves are regularly sacrificed to Tzeench and Nurgle, and another where my captured goblins are ritually slaughtered as sacrifices to Khorne.

the altar to Father Nurgle took the most work. Getting the FBS solution onto the altar without it going everywhere was hard work.

The population of the Trammeledclasped county has reached 189, including 16 dwarves below working age. The summer of 307 will arrive in two weeks, and my mining squad is digging out an extension to the subterranean housing complex, one floor below the 'ground floor' of my currently-subterranean castle. This extension will be able to house an additional 60 dwarves, for a total of 240 standard bedrooms, and I have more than enough food and drink to cover even 300 dwarves for years, so I intend to raise the population cap in stages. When summer hits, the population cap will become 250.

Also, the river was successfully rerouted (with only a little cheating), so the castle can be safely excavated without risk of flooding. However, the castle is not yet complete, and thus excavation will not begin for some time.

A peasant just went secretive and made a mule bone bin.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

That name...

I suppose he wasn't looking forward to his life as a hauler/soldier, and wanted to save himself some of his own vertebrae when the caravans arrive. That or he was complaining about how sway-backed the mule must have been to provide such shoddy bones.

Now, what should I do with it?

I think I killed the local gob civ.

Oh, well, they brought me enough goblinite to make like 200 units of iron, which will give us quite a bit of steel.

Murderconstructs celebrated its first birthday.

Wildlife raids are becoming a nuisance.  The badger conga line has a few giant badgers mixed in and now has to be steered clear of unless my limited militia (two axe dwarves with limited armor) is on hand.  Vultures and rhesus monkey raids have occurred as well and are filling up cage traps.

Magma was located and the first magma smelters and glass workshops are active.  Supplies to them are being dumped down a 100 Z-level "drop shaft" since the magnetite, tetrahedrite, chalk, sand, and charcoal are all being found or made near the surface.  I hope to upgrade things in general shortly - weapons and armor for the militia, and also start churning out some materials for weapon traps to dissuade the wildlife and the goblins that will eventually turn up.

A third migrant wave arrived - 20 dwarves.   This took the adult population to 33 dwarves.  The new arrivals were not that useful of a skill set, but the fortress did need bodies to help with hauling work and spread out the workload.  And this will allow the two axedwarves to train more, as well as allow the formation of a few more squads to start training up.

Tons of tons of loose rock sitting around as the miners have been spending time on access tunnels, more workshop and storage space, and also digging out a cistern, large dining room, and hospital space in the marble layers found between the first two caverns.  Since the fort has a large vertical footprint things are somewhat spread out with small residence blocks for 16-20 dwarves being put in here and there between level 100 where the marble is and the level 140 surface.

The fortress also needs to start working out a trade industry.  No gold or precious metals so far like recent forts, so something more basic like cloth goods is more likely.  Though if the magnetite keeps flowing in the fortress can probably export iron or steel goods if necessary.

208 dwarves now inhabit Trammeledclasped. Stukos Boltedtwigs has become the first Veteran of the fort, after losing his right arm in a draltha incursion. And painting an entire mineshaft with the blood from it, after/while beating the draltha to death with the severed appendage. He needs a nickname.

Morul, the one legged hunter turned storyteller is now very popular amongst the children of the fort. I assume her story of Morul Woundordered and the Voracious Cave Crawler enthralls the young'uns of Zalisiden.

Urvad Raworb, Mayor, and husband of one of the starting seven, Litast Shemkol ended a mandate lately. He was satisfied that we didn't export nickel silver... Dear Armok i hope his next mandate isn't slade. I can't afford to anger him, as he is well entrenched among the population.

Urvad and Litast recently welcomed their fifth child today. They're both beaming- with three children and two babies, they seem like they're going to populate the world. They're easily the most prolific of the dwarves.

The bone doctor who lost her baby Zon to a troglodyte had another baby. Good on her.

Nish, the weaver who was brutalised in an ambush died today from infection. RIP, Nish.

Tun Ringyawning, a Proficient Axedwarf suffered a critical injury today. He has lost a leg and has been given crutches, as well as being relieved from duty. Dwarves with nerve injuries are kept on as they are still useful, but legless dwarves are deprived of a method of attack and so are Honorably Discharged. Tun has three notable kills, all in the same ambush, as well as two drunians, two rutherers and one VCC. He was seriously injured by a Cave Crocodile.

Work on the 'Veteran of Zalisiden' rooms are ongoing. Morul was pleased with her new room and her new tomb, which I decided to erect after she nearly came to grief again, causing the injury to Tun. 'Morul Vudtharbim cancels store owned item: Interrupted by Cave Crocodile.'

Zaneg Larmomuz the Blockaded Recluse of Justice has been given improvements in her room. She's very pleased.

I've sent 27000dorfbux of crafts to the mountainhome in the hopes of becoming a barony. :D

More migrants. Among them is one Morul Riverroughness, a High Master Fisherdwarf who has also got Expert in shield, armor, fighter and dodger, as well as talented in hammerdwarf and proficient in axedwarf. New militia captain, anyone?

Just designed 2 tunels leading to my magma resevoir to be dug so I could build more magma smelters, after some minutes "Urist Mcminer has bled to death!"
I zoom in and find a smoke trail from the tunnel all the way to my garden, and a flaming body on the end.

A 50x50x50 cube of rock dug out by legendary miners produces a LOT of stone.  There's a pile of rubble deeper than a human is tall at the bottom of the shaft.  Urist McNumbercruncher estimates the fortress to hold over 115000 rocks.  Time to bring out some magma and clean this mess up!

The King is not pleased.  This pushes back the schedule for the construction of his Royal Palace at least a few months, only because the haulers hadn't hauled the rocks into the magma dump before the cave-in as planned.

With the birth of Ducim Listolin, Trammeledclasped reaches a grand total of 250 dwarves. The housing complex is once again being expanded to accomodate another 60 rooms, and with the goblins having been strangely quiet in the eight years since the fortress began, production of weapons and armour is taking top priority, and the 40-strong militia is training full-time.
