I found a way I could clean out the fort by assigning the stones to trade, while this will take some of the stone works take more time, the fortress will look cleaner, and the non-soil level stockpiles can perfectly go with all of their space without having a craftsdwarf shop nearby

I find a more trade friendly way is to make lots of stone crafts and store them in bins. Not only does it make your floors look prettier, but it also makes them much easier to transport to the depot.

As well, I currently am doing just that method of stone management. Working on my second legendary stone crafter.

I know, but this one is way faster if those hippies have nothing useful to trade, the crafting is just the final part of this cleaning operation.

Hehe. I didn't realize all human and dorf civs around you were extinct? With only elves goblins and various other creatures left in the world, why haven't your dorfs killed themselves?

As well I am currently constructing a golden effigy to toast.

I haven't found humans yet, and the mountainhomes have slightly useful things, while the hippies just give you cloth, rarely epic beasts, and wood made out of hypocrisy, I am yet to find the civs I modded in too. They all seem to be scared of this good forest...

Bootrazors is being prosperous. I started running out of food storage space, assigned every unskilled peasant in the place to cook lavish meals, and piled them up on the human caravan along with clothing creations. Bought THEIR ENTIRE CLOTH SUPPLY, and sent them home with about 20k dorfbucks in profit, along with a 5k tribute to their homeland. COME AT ME GOBLIN BROS.

Almost immediately my food storage started piling up again, so now I'm going over the fields, reducing the time each non-fabric crop is growing so each field produces two crops per year, and removing excess fields.

ETA: And now my game crashed, but that's okay because it means I can get to work on sorting things out quicker.

Also, note to self: Turn off danger room before cleaning. Baby Dishmab got it in the arm this time.

My fort's first death occured last night. One of my three legendary miners - this was somewhat of an issue at the time, since I had a mere 34 dwarves. He accidentally channeled through the roof of the first cavern layer and fell 4 z-levels to his death.

However, the interesting part is this: The dwarf who made his coffin became a Mason the instant it was completed. I checked his relaqtionships screen on a whim, and the dead miner - the guy he'd just carved a coffin for - was his only friend.

;A;

Also I named two of my dwarves after Peewee and Putnam on the forums here. Peewee is a Legendary Miner and the baron of my fort, Putnam is an Accomplished Mason, and they are happily married with two sons.

The problem I had with that method is that stones are heavy. The traders will run out of space on the wagon to carry them. That was back in 40d though, maybe things are different now that the traders aren't using wagons.

The only thing currently going on in my fort is the gentle cooling of magma after a pair of disastrous errors flooded the entirety of the fort with molten !!Fun!!.
... and... 4 dwarfs, 1 barrel of food, 1 axe, and 1 pick are all that's left.

Oh, hey. I got a fresh start. And a goblin ambush. YAY!

That's almost exactly mimicing the Succession fort I just got! High five! Cept we got a tantrum spiral threatening...

The Forgotten Beast Cethutha has come! A gigantic lyrebird with lidless eyes. It has two long curly tails and it has a bloated body! Its saffron feathers are long and narrow. Beware its noxious secretions!

Oh dear lord.

This is my first FB with Noxious Secretions. The FB itself only killed a dog, but it flew right up into our fort via the execution tower. The three squads sent to deal with it minced it in a few seconds. A recruit got the killing blow by bisecting it with his -iron battle axe-! Great room for that guy this instant!

Aaaaand the first syndrome has been noted. It's FEVER.

Well, I'm on my first fort with 120+ dwarves where I keep thinking to myself "Man, some more migrants would be really great right about now."

I'm experimenting with an almost all-military fort called Clobbertime. Getting all the weapons and armour together is tough. I really wish there was a more advanced mining feature for veins of ore. Maybe if a dwarf digs some ore, it automatically marks the same ore to be dug if it's within 1 tile? It should be an option in the orders menu for when you just want them to dig rooms and leave the rest of the vein alone.

Vein digging is in the works officially and is a feature of DFHack as vdig and vdigx (IIRC).

ETA: This is hilarious, I have a dwarf named Fikod Fikodfikod.

ETAx2: Dishmab Wirebell became a child and took off to the hospital about those two wooden training spears she took to the gut as a baby. It looks like all she needs are a few sutures and a brace for her broken rib. You a survivor, baby girl.

My dungeon master just went insane because a dead dorf has better burial arrangements :P
