This was just too much fun to keep for myself. This came from my announcements:

Asmel McDwarf is taken by a fey mood.
Asmel McDwarf withdraws from society.
Asmel McDwarf has claimed a Mason's Workshop.
Asmel McDwarf has begun a mysterious construction.
Asmel McDwarf has given birth to a girl.

I think next time Asmel McDwarf should claim a bed instead of a Mason's Workshop...

Set up a couple of jail cells and installed the usual gold chains and masterpiece engravings to help with morale; decided to put a statue in one, and discovered that the best gold statue in the fort was a depiction of the current mayor getting elected. So now anyone goes to jail, they get to look at a statue of the guy who probably sent them there.  :)

Hit some candy in a very boring fort. Going to see if I can bring out the Candy Cane Men to make things less boring.

Candy cane men found. Oh boy aren't they happy about me stealing their candy?

I named a dwarf after myself and changed his profession to Pharaoh, embarked in a desert, and began forming large teams of miners and masons to build a huge pyramid which will be my tomb. The masons will be buried alive with me when I die, along with enormous quantities of beer (but in a sealed room so the others don't drink it).

I was going to pick a desert-themed name for the fortress, but I was randomly assigned Mirrorwars and liked it. The Egyptian theme continues with a plague of rats. When I checked the topside workshops  there were over a dozen rats crawling over them, along with the remains of nearly three times that number. The cats are proving most useful in keeping them at bay. If my masons build any cat statues they will be positioned overlooking my coffin.

Speaking of statues, they've made quite a few of me. Most involve me holding up or admiring war hammers, but someone made one where I'm cowering in fear of blood gnats. If I didn't need them alive for the construction and burial I'd have them executed!

The Pharaoh has taken a liking to our woodworker. Perhaps if there are any heirs I'll build another pyramid after my own (smaller, obviously).

I built a giant gold monument of the ascii dwarf.  Two dwarves were inevitably killed in its construction, starving behind a wall of ☼Gold Statues☼.

The goblins have decided to be pansies and not siege me anymore. I'm thinking of pissing off the humans and rebuilding the trap corridor.

I also got my first military named weapon artifact! 'Nabaskerlig' The Divine Shell. It's an exceptional adamantine shortsword with 162 kills, among them a roc and a minotaur. I dropped it in a chamber for my next adventurer.

I also have a question. Does it get the weapon bonus of forged artifact weapons?

Mistem Kolison, Bone Doctor has given birth to a boy. Presumably to replace the child killed recently by troglodytes... Poor Zon.

The siege was broken effortlessly- the instant the goblins saw the dwarves, they charged, only to be brought to their knees by traps, and the dwarves took care of the rest. We captured eight goblins and one voracious cave crawler. Their execution is pending.

Unfortunately, we have five wounded. Four of them are cripples, and the last one was a Proficient Swordsdwarf who has been cleared to work again.
The most badly injured is unlikely to make it through the winter, imo.

The snow around Lockedrelics is smelting, seeing the lovely green grass for the first time, and hearing the brook stream downwards at a rapid pace.
Also, raw mussels in abundance.

You'll never have to worry about strange moods calling for shell materials! Set up a stockpile or two by the fish cleanery and set some dwarves to work shucking those suckers.

We've got Runesmith for that aye?

I just started a new fort on the tundra and am now successfully piercing a 4+ layer aquifer with a perfectly vertical shaft. Taking a damn long while though. I need to set up farms and such to keep the dorfs alive while the miners channel the perimeter, dig up/down stairs, channel those stairs out, and repeat. Takes a while but considering my luck with aquifers and freezing biomes previously, it's going swell. None of the miners have gotten trapped in the ice or otherwise maimed and killed :P
I have clay, sand, a fresh water source, planting soil... But the gold and tetrahedrite are in the damn conglomerate layer, which houses the aquifer, along with the two sand layers.

Unfortunately we have lesser dragons for the majority of the above-ground wildlife, the only other I've seen being muskoxen. This fortress is doomed...

I have 4 children in the populace now. Only one married couple and another single father. (who is a high master glassmaker!)

Gah! My master plan for dealing with the aquifers has failed! For whatever reason I can't get this next layer to freeze. I'll have to fiddle with the channeling until I find a way... The water is also filled with "water" items. What the hell?

While some dwarfs at Lockedrelics worked on the floodgate system to simply irrigate the underground-farm, the dining hall was mined out, not too big though.
Currently, they're firstly trying to be self-sufficient, before engaging any serious business.

Bzuh? Fishery workshops and fish cleaning labor are in the base game. (b)uild a (w)orking fis(h)ery, and if any dwarves have the fish cleaning labor they'll auto-queue the job and start filling your refuse piles with mussel shells.

At a certain depth it stops freezing. Sucks for your fort, but in glacier maps it's a useful way to get drinking water by dropping an ice floor down a hole. The water items are melted ice "rocks". Unfortunately they don't count as proper water so they can't be used to drink from.

Well I succeeded in drilling down two more layers after a restart that lost me that high master glassmaker. It demanded reducing the width of the stairwell from 5x5 to 3x3, though. Finally got into a marble layer and located caverns one and two. The fortress is saved!

Not much room above cavern 1 left, though. I suspect some supreme above-ground construction is mandated.

I think the water will probably at most flood one z-level with constant flow; the water flows off the map edges in Hell. Also, last time I checked clowns can breath water.

On the bright side, you probably just a made a lake in Hell, and I think trees grow on muddied slade.
