Started a new fortress to experiment with compact and flexible fortress designs. So far I love my implementation of the cluster and living pod designs from magmawiki. The fort is also well defended from the untamed wild so far with my sea of cage traps. Need to sort out magma soon though because fuel is getting lower than the demand

Zalisiden is under siege. Let the humans in and sealed the door... They're alright for the moment. I lost one fisherdwarf and one hunter, but it's ok, there's plenty more.

In other news, a hunter ONE-SHOTTED A GCS.

Giving a single z level fort a shot with the legends of forlorn realms mod (really awesome, worth checking it out if you like modding), found a ton of mithril. A dwarf also got his arm chopped off by a voidwalker (High difficulty enemy civ in the mod) thief and despite never visiting the hospital he is perfectly fine with it and looks like he's gonna make it out of it okay. Rad.

Also got an artifact pure mithril chainmail. Also Rad.

Another guy also got stabbed in the hand and is fine. Well okay.

I'm also enjoying single Z level forts much more then the traditional central staircase design. It's just more fun to look at.

The bone doctor whose baby was killed by troglodytes... she's alright.
I just saw "Mistem Kolison cancels Drink: seeking infant." (but her infant's dead.)

In my mind's eye i saw a doctor mournfully wandering about Zalisiden calling out 'Zon... Zon my child, where are you? Come back to mummy...'

It's just occurred to me that selling all those fancy socks to the humans probably got Bootrazors the attention of goblins. Time to sort out the useful dwarves and ship the rest off to danger rooms and forges.

We skipped the ambushes and went right into a siege. A siege of... one goblin squad. Well, they killed the resident human adventuring group and two dwarves from a caravan and then spent a few months camping on a frozen lake. I was hoping they'd drown come spring, but they decided to pack up and leave.

Fast forward a year. During scheduled deforestation, we're hit by another siege! The ten dwarves who couldn't get back across the bridge in time were hunted down and skewered, and the injustice of their own safety then made the remaining 90 dwarves start rioting and killing each other in a realistic reenactment of what had just happened outside.

Farewell, randomly named fort with massive wall. It was nice knowing ya.

Watch out for dragons. Before you know it Smaug's gonna come take it away. If you make it out with your life you just may live to see a midget wearing it some day.

The snow around Lockedrelics is smelting, seeing the lovely green grass for the first time, and hearing the brook stream downwards at a rapid pace.
Also, raw mussels in abundance.

Mightycity is still recovering from the latest derth of sieges and ambushes, but unless some unexpected !fun! happens, Mightcity should be well on its way back to a barony.

You'll never have to worry about strange moods calling for shell materials! Set up a stockpile or two by the fish cleanery and set some dwarves to work shucking those suckers.

ETA:

You're suffering from a lack of sieges and ambushes? You're using that word, but I do not think it means what you think it means.
