I have a few wells in my hospital at -4 and their water is in my cavern at -46. Because it takes ages to haul that water up I decided to build a cistern a good 20 floors highers and to pump it up. However, I now have 26 pumps and they're not all very accessible (due to the layout of my previous diggings but more because of the layout of the caverns).

I realise it would be far more efficient if I were to use windmills but I have no idea whatsoever on how to do this.

Buggrit. Manual pumping it is!

I'm planning how best to up my fort's wealth exponentially in order to entice more FBs and megabeasts to take a crack at me.  I've gotten over my fear of massive creatures and now want to keep killing them, like an addiction.  Also, the golden platform is prepared, and the Goblin Master Thief will be sacrificed to Ooonathoonhatma, the Great Volcano upon which we dwell. The volcano brings life, and death. The volcano brings us heat to force weapons. The volcano is God, and shall be appeased with the filthy invaders, but only the worthy ones.

The weaker goblins have een added to my experiment on how long until they become cannibals. One pit is all unarmed goblins, and the other is my control. Its all unarmed goblins, and a tiger.

I'm not sure how this is a control, but I'll leave that for future scientists to puzzle over.

Strike candy, hand it over to a legendary metalsmith/blacksmith/etc. Then sic your legendary gem setter on your stockpiles. Watch your fortress produced value skyrocket (Also, aquire as much raw food as possible, legendary meals can be worth along the lines of 12k dorfbux per stacK)

Im fairly sure that having two or three engravers work on smoothing non-stop untill all are legendary and then having them engrave everything would be pretty good for value too.

Well atm my path is engraving everything. Including the caverns I think when I get around to it. Also, since I have massive veins of gold I'm making everything out of gold that I can.  And am considering transforming areas of the fort now, since I have lots of dorf hands... maybe an aquarium, for elves (they breathe water, right? SURE HOPE SO FOR THEIR SAKE) and more elaborate traps that are survivable. And I'm seriously considering turning the volcano tube into a giant dwarf, and using the other gentlemen's volcano eruption pump system to make the dwarf breathe fire.

Also, I need to figure out a good way to web traps so we can capture a FB and let it reside in a pit to sacrifice the lesser goblins too.  My longterm goal is to turn my fort into a horrifying deathcult to Oolatec or somesuch.

Currently relieved my fort is ok. Just had a double ambush (11 gobbos) in 2nd year with the caravan. I've been training some spear dwarfs since migration wave and though the training was slow (training spear and spear are two different things in the equip menu, so for 5 months they just weren't practicing anything but wrestling :/) with no traps or danger rooms I managed to mop up the forces with only losing some sheep (sheep heavy embark :D). I think I was lucky, strange moods have made me so many protective artifact armour pieces the last few seasons :) One of my best fighters is wounded bad, not mortally - we'll see what's up when she is diagnosed.

My fort which had been annoyed by an aquifer is now seiged by no less than 4 ambus squads. My earlier fort in the world died out by !!FUN!! and it entered the age of goblins. That may be why I have so many squads of gobbos. Busy making drowning trap using the hated aquifer.

Making all my fields fallow because right now Fightbronze has 214389719087241+ animals and way the hell too much food. Turning off cooking for plants so all the animal products can be consolidated into lavish meals for trade.

Had a carvan arrive without an ambush - colour me surprised!
But itwas only bloody elves :( - still, I need plenty of wood for my clear-glass goals.
Annoying that tame animals dont breed - I have a male and a pair of female Giant Cougars. :(
At least if any invaders get past my traps there will be a surprise waiting for them inside :)

Tame animals should breed.

As for me, it seems as if the human caravan left a soldier behind. She's got a copper bow, copper mail shirt, copper cap and copper arrows, is listed as "friendly" in my "u"-list seems to be guarding my bridge.

Eh, fine by me.

More annoying is that all my produced lye seems to be disappearing. I want to make soap, consarnit!

She will move on to the off-map soon.

And for lye, check your food stockpile or un-stockpiled random barrels.

I realised, checked and confirmed the problem.

I'm on a glacier. My lye is frozen.

After a lot of training as an adventurer I decided to try to take on a minotaur with a group of meatshields brave warriors. While running through the labyrinth I wind up running too far ahead, meeting the minotaur, and getting my skull punched through my brain.

So, deciding another few hours training would be a waste, I decide to just embark on the same site and kill the damn minotaur with my dwarves. Not wanting it to attack until I'm ready I wall it off and proceed with business as usual. Some time later I have a poorly equipped military and decide to crack open the labyrinth only to find the minotaur already dead. Lo and behold standing beside it were a handful of corpses and one brave warrior. Granted I should have seen it coming when a goblin thief was spotted by the human hanging around outside my town, but that guy was just a farmer or someone that I recruited, not the vicious axeman in the hole.

People are still getting sick due to long-dead-fb-vapours. Luckily it's vomit and heavy drowsiness at most, but still.
