I'm making a obsidian factory/ deathtrap on the front gate. Anyone tried this yet?

Heard of it, seen the plans for many, but I've never gotten around to making one myself. If it does work though, you do realize you are required to post pics and carve statues out of the victims. 8D

I've constructed flamethrower turrets using imps.
Time to burn any invaders!

After three bad starts, I'm finally striking the earth at Squirtedpaint, and remembering to save this time so I can properly savescum if I do that stupid thing with the miners and the magma again. *facepalm*

The volcano is called "The Fires of Perishment". Thank you, Urist McObvious.

So yeah, first strange mood in my new fort was a weaponsmith in a fey mood. "Very nice!" i thought. He goes and claims a magma forge (embarked on top of a volcano), and then... Stands still. Oh god. "There's tons of iron bars! Go grab some!" but no, "I must have platinum bars!"

...

BY ARMOK WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU THINKING ARE YOU AN IDIOT OR SOMETHING WE HAVE NO PLATINUM BARS WITHIN A FUCKING MILE

And so, i rocket downwards in an effort to find olivine, which houses platinum. Fortunately, i manage to find some in the first cavern, and now i have an artifact platinum crossbow worth 96k dorfbux, along with a legendary weaponsmith. Off to a good start!

On one note: Apparently bolts fired into merchants standing on a trade depot are marked as being traded if they stick in the corpse.

On another, some metalsmith just completed this: Ultertangak, "The Common Spots", an honest-to-Armok muthafugging adamantine bastard sword. Worth 1.3 million Urists.

"This is an adamantine bastard sword. All craftdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is decorated with cave spider silk and encircled with bands of oak. This object menaces with spikes of black diamond and celestial marble. On this item is an image of Iden Axeblueness the dwarf and dwarves in adamantine. Iden Axeblueness is surrounded by the dwarves. The artwork relates to the ascension of the dwarf Iden Axeblueness to the position of king of The Infamous Pages in 19"

 :o

Most badass, most dwarven artifact ever?

Congrats, Dice! That is indeed a dwarvenly whoopass sword. What kind of mood did it come from? (Hell, even a possession isn't so bad if it resulted in THAT.)

ETA: Dwarves at Squirtedpaint found wild garlic! My modded plants work! :D

ETAx2: And hot peppers! Rice requires water to grow, so I'm not expecting to find any of that, but potatoes are still a possibility...

My legendary miner is now in a squad called "The Rough Riders".
I still need to forge him some real armor, though.
EDIT:Robbed the caravan and got him some armor.

No he meant bully as in Theo Roosevelt's catchphrase (I know it was a common word at the time, but a president that awesome deserves his own catchphrase).

Did a stupid thing with flattening some annoying terrain and lost a miner. The other miner got bit in the head by the aforementioned honey badger, but thankfully seems to have survived.

First migrant wave to Squirtedpaint includes a LEGENDARY STONECRAFTER. @_@

Theodore Roosevelt also being the leader of the Rough Riders, famous for their charge on San Juan hill in the Spanish-American war. It's like the boorish American version of "Jolly good!"

It is also a word I'm trying to bring back into common parlance, with limited success.
