For some reason, there was a white tile on the bridge into my fort.  Curious, I examined it with 'k'.

It was the only clean spot left.  Though I'd built the bridge from rock salt, it was so caked with blood and pus that it was, but for one inexplicably clean tile, brown.  Seriously, how does a single cat produce a "pool" of pus?  On second thought, I don't want to know...

I am using horrible cheating (SPEED:0 and free material reactions) to build a massive marble castle. I just feel like building something big.

I made a map on a terrifying, scorching, tropical shrubland.  Zombie elephants are significantly less threatening than regular elephants, namely because one lucky wrestler can punch one in the ear and kill it, and one unlucky one can get a bruised arm and kill it.

I dug under my main fort, because my upper side for of walls, butcher shop, and trade depot, is always a few Z above my subterrain fort, where my workshops, dining halls, and other junk is.  I'd bought some black bears, and chained them up directly under my walls, and the fact that I cut into a murky pool didn't bother me.

Traders came, and an ambush snuck up.  I'd forgotten there was a ramp in that dried out murky pool, and got a faceful of goblin archers directly inside my base.  A squad of 10 naked wrestlers (yes, stark raving naked), one mediocre crossbowman, and two human escorts managed to take them all down.  I lost 10 dwarves immediately, mostly wrestlers but some civilians, with another 7 8 in the hospital and a few more slowly popping away as they go insane.  There seems to be no immediate tantrum spiral, though I'll have to replace a lot of cabinets that are currently being destroyed by tantruming civilians.

Wall built, that gaping wide back door is now blocked >.>

I have more married couples in this fort than I've ever had - and hordes of babies are now showing up. We've had 11 so far, and this fort is about to start its third year :|

In other news, we just had a secretive mood. Gem cutter. And he brought forth Unolkōn Serkibedėmtharith (Soulsmaster the Random Key-Hurricane), perfect pink tourmaline. Kinda boring, but it's got a rad weird name and spikes. Dwarfy enough for me!

...Holy carp! The entire fortress just attacked the butcher's shop to haul all the freshly-chopped bits of giant eagle to the food stockpiles. First alligators, now this! Looks like my hunter has earned himself a name.

EDIT: Aaaaa a seige arrived aaaa I don't know how to work the 2010 military yet 8)

Hammerbones has seen its first ambush, in the late autumn of its second year. Her three legendary soldiers, laughed lazily as they casually hacked, bashed and impaled the would be invaders. Several marriages were had this year. With luck there will be a few babies coming in the next year and finally push the forts population over 17.  Also with luck the staging will be complete for the moving of the farms into the cavern. It really bothers me having them so close to the forts entrance.

Sometimes I really miss having a dwarven caravan. I could really use some fine dwarven goods. Hopefully the elves will have told the humans about Hammerbones and I can aquire some f-ing iron. I have pleanty of flux, but not a damn vein of iron, or coal bearing ore for that matter.  Never had a fort where I didnt stumble into at least one vein of each of those.  I do however have more malachite than I know what to do with, along with a few other viens of lesser ores. I can always equip my future military dwarves with lesser armor I guess... At least until I find larger deposits of goblinite.

Didn't get my last minute trade depot built in time, and missed the first caravan, hadn't collected berries, and water was frozen. Lost 4 dwarves, all friend to my recently legendary miner before booze production began again. He went berserk, killing another 6, and the elven caravan that came by in Spring, before dying himself.

On the upside, they had brought many berries, and the farms are just about ready to start planting.

On the downside, checking the unit screen informed me I have a zombie magma crab lurking.

my dwarf became a cat

he then gave birth a baby kitten and turned into a woodworker dwarf, strange occurring indeed.

New idea for a fort, and so I genned a new world. I played around with height variances to produce beach cliffs at the ocean, but no joy, so I went for one of the series of tiny little lakes instead (embarking on Lake Baikal, sorta thing).

Scouting embark, but somehow, I don't think I'll be able to do much with this one. It's just a feeling I have.

Messing around with magma for the first time.  Still haven't produced a !!dorf!!, but I've discovered the wonders of not having to worry about fuel, i.e. SMELT EVERYTHING IN SIGHT.  HEY URIST, BRING ME THAT KITTEN, LET'S SEE IF WE CAN SMELT THAT TOO.

the kitten! i butchered it whenever i found it roaming around my dining room.

And my stone crafter made a artifact, "The Eviscerated Whispers of Secreting" a cassiterite scepter menacing with silver spikes, it shows the founding of Gearlashed the fortress.

I embarked on a Haunted area that was just a little TOO Haunted. A skeletal camel annihilated my entire camp, despite the four war grizzlies I had in reserve. They were apparently not that good at fighting.

Edzul has turned back into a cat, and now can't be slaughtered cause he's the sheriff and butchers master, its quite strange, to say the least...

On the bright side everything is working fine, i've got a caravan of elves starving to death in the trade depot, and food is plenty with meat

UPDATE: Elf went beserk, got his face caved in by a horses hoof, I must draw this.

Just got overrun by werewolves (30 or so) in year 2 - playing Genesis mod. I reclaimed the site, preparing for ensuing fun,....but all the remaining werewolves were listed as "friendly" o.O Standig in the cold, not moving a bit,...I first thought they froze to death :D Dunno what to do with this.
