FB in the third cavern, military in the danger room, civilians spewing off job item misplaced cancels. All seems fairly normal in Trailedmines. Mostly since the FB is stuck in the third cavern with no way out.

EDIT : Got my first legendary speardwarf. Time to mass produce iron armor/weapons. And get him to teach newcomers how to use a spear. I assigned him a war tiger, war dog, and two war elephants. Each legendary military dwarf will get two war animals, 4 if he/she is a militia captain/commander.

As it turns out, the pen was in fact a poor choice for melee combat in comparison to the sword.
So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

I sent one of my squads into the cavern to slaughter a tribe of snakemen who had annoyed me. As I watched, one of my axedwarves dove into the lake, swam after the last snakeman and chopped him to bits … then swam after a nearby giant olm who'd just been hanging out, watching the show. The water ran red with blood, then my axedwarf casually swam back to the shore again and went for a drink.

He's only a dabbling swimmer.

Just had my military kill a Cave Fish Man tribe. All but 1 blowdart was blocked by the armor they have, and that only dart had cave spider venom on it.

Maybe you're rubbing off on him.

And in soviet fortress, fishbulb rub off on animalmen!

My game is crashing on a regular basis, I'm not impressed.

I wanted an army of war gorillas, but I go too far! These suckers just won't stop breeding! From an initial population of about six — I captured a whole troop — they've produced more than thirty gorilla children in just two years! I'm up to my elbows in gorillas! It's a monkeyfort!

Use only males for war animals and keep females locked up. Also, meat for life.

How I feel about elephants except with breeding replaced with wandering into cage traps. I've got enough elephants to give an entire squad 2, and then some. At least, that's what it feels like. I'm more worried about my FPS. I've got a horrible computer for DF. I get 20-30 FPS with tempature and weather turned off with 40-80 dwarves.

My Trade Depot is currently situated on a platform which consists of a single tile wide walkway out over the volcano which spreads into a 5x5 space, holding the building itself mere inches from a lake of magma on all sides. Trading at it's most dwarfy.

The only trouble is, now that it's constructed, I'm conflicted over whether to use it for it's orginal purpose: dumping it and every single Elf Merchant trading at it into the magma as a sacrifice to Armok, or instead to use a system of locked doors, hatches, and cages traps to catch the Elves as trophies.

Is it more dwarfy to capture or kill elves?

Both. Capture them, then dump them into magma. Keep your favourites as trophies.

I don't mean to alarm you, but it appears that your Dwarves are all in fact elephants.

So I decided to try a 40d fort. Well, I found a good location, trees, mountain, etc. And I missed the part that it had a chasm. I feel like planepacked (maybe wrong fortress), minus the zombies and the fact that they knew it had a chasm. I only knew it had a chasm after checking what local wildlife consisted of. I then proceeded to find antmen, ratmen, trogdolytes, large rats, and GCS's (Giant Cave Swallows).

Well a wave of immigrants decided to arrive in the middle of a double ambush!
All but two were slaughtered.

I'd feel worse about it, but I was at 100 dwarfs anyway, and plus there weren't many good skills in the bunch.

My armorer (the only one left after the ambush) just went into a strange mood. He better take a forge and he had better grab some steel. I'm saving and forbidding all metals but steel, in fact.

The king has arrived. She's actually a queen but still listed as king on the nobles screen. Population of the mountainhome tinshins is at 224 and i think migrants stop when the king arrives. Not sure tho. I'm trying to think of a dwarfy way to put this fort to an end as it was originally only to be created to outfit an adventurer in masterwork steel gear. Alas i had no smith mood so I'm still training them.
Want to end this as it's running at like 15 fps (big embark as i wanted a volcano a brook and flux).

I would say, after getting a smith to mood and make an artifact weapon/piece of armor, to designate a  burrow for all but your now legendary smith, set up that one dwarf up in a walled up room with a lever, and unleash MAGMA. Alternatively, you can make another lever that will dose the room with water and entomb them all in obsidian.
