My first forgotten beast. It's about 20 z-levels down a pit where I breached the caverns, so I hope it can't fly.

It can't.

This is what's happening in my fort. tl;dr: Military is broken. Again.

0.31.15 update:

Three snatchers within a few frames of one another, pretty soon after I loaded my fort.  Fun times are ahead, since I never bothered to train up a new military after the apocalypse.  My single remaining axedwarf is still pretty badass, though.

An idle goblin was camping the volcano tower and the elf diplomat was too scared to leave. He was stricken by melancholy and immediately jumped from the catwalk into the lava.

A few moments later:
'A diplomat has left unhappy'

I'm about 1/5 of the way done with the main part of my semi-megaproject, the Iron Tunnel of Clashworks. (I may make a thread about that eventually.)
My military just had their first real battle in years, against 2 goblin squads.  Most of their new recruits died, but the three old timers survived, and one of them got a new name.  Also, one of them got his hand severed by a bolt.
That's pretty much it.  Oh, and there's lots of dumping going on.

My dwarves are on the edge of dying of thirst (I found out the river doesn't flow during the entire year), and I planned on buying drinks from the dwarven caravan.

They're here, and I remember that I've got nothing of value to trade.
As such, I'm going to sell a lot of my excess stone.

I cleaned out the crossbowmen at the cost of a recruit, and another of my founding seven is probably going to be invalid for life. It's a shame, he just earned himself a name in that battle. It's kind of sad that he and the other didn't die in battle, because I've got some majestic tombs lined up for them. Far better than laying idle in a bed while incompetent doctors cancel jobs for plaster powder that's sitting in a stockpile right in their zone.

I rounded up the survivors for an assault on the trolls and axegoblins sitting on our mountainside when the siege unexpectedly broke. Everyone drifted off except for one hammergoblin who somehow fell off the mountain, and crippled and half-conscious managed to whack one of my wrestlers with one hit before the rest of the soldiers took him down.

If only I could get this fucking fort organized, I would've had the defenses done long before this siege started. But you never know how to organize 40 dwarves until you have 40 dwarves, you never know how to organize 80 or 120 until you have that many. I've got 120 adult dwarves who are still shuttling crap around from the last trading season, almost a year ago. In fact, it'll be a year in two weeks, when I expect the next dwarven caravan to arrive, and hope to have this shit pulled together enough to make some trades.

just got an artifact sword named: Bravedbasements

this sword is pretty much destined for dungeon-crawling.

If I had a monkey, I would borrow my moms sewing machine and make my monkey a little monkey suit. Then if anyone said "Thats not a real monkey, it's just a monkey suit, I can see the zipper", I could say "I bet you fifty dollars it is a real monkey" and when they said "that seems like a reasonable bet, you are on", my monkey would take off the monkey suit and they would have to pay me fifty dollars.
