Disappointed that I can't tame the skeletal elk I went through all that trouble to catch.  Ah, well, I'll save it as a surprise for an uppity noble if any show up.

well I'm trying to get an adventurer and her engineer follower into a relationship.
so far they are just friends.
ifwhen I end up with a child I'll name it darius for making the util that fuel this test.

the fort is completely filled with human children and shopkeepers.

I just caught a titan in a cage.

Was planning to sacrifice it to armok in the first test of my flood the world with magma device, until I noticed - This is the same titan my Queen worships!

So, I stuck its cage in her room. Enjoy Queeny.

I'm buildidng and underground defense system, with random towers all over the map and the barrack in the middle, so as soon as enemies appear my dwarves can go to the spot fast and protected.

Nice one!
Sacrificing it in front of her would have worked too.
You can always release it in her room if she makes a bad mandate.

Are you playing as humans or something?  Haven't noticed dwarves worshipping megabeasts.

Nope, vanilla DF with mayday's tileset and a few custom modifications (all made post-worldgen though so nothing that would affect that).

Apparently this titan killed several of her family and now the survivors all worship it :D

Too bad it's in a crappy pine cage and won't give her good thoughts for being in the room, and I'm not risking moving it to an adamantine cage.

so i have like 189 dwarves or something, i was wondering why i havent had a baron(ess) arrive yet

or a hammerer, or any other nobles(besides the dungeon master and philosopher)

It's probably either your overall fortress wealth being too low, your trade exports being too low, or maybe both. Not sure. Never let my popcap take me farther than 110ish dwarves.

2235711 total fortress wealth

7093 exported

200 dwarves

549209 imported wealth

do i need to increase any of these?

The arrival of the baron/ess also requires doing a certain number of certain types of jobs in a single year period. See here for details.

I believe that you also need 10,000 exported wealth.

Because of a lack of water, my moat is empty.

Right now, there's a rhesus macaque living in the ditch.

Fell down there and got hurt, but it's healing in the hole.

It's covered with mud.

So yeah, I have a monkey-thing in a hole. Woo.

EDIT: Nevermind. Ranger shot it to death. Now I have a monkey-thing corpse in a hole. Woo.

Goblins!

And some of my shiny new Masons are outside, one in particular having been mobbed by Wrestlers. He's got several named attributes, and the Wrestlers are just Tough, but he's still in serious trouble.

Hopefully once Lor finishes raping his way through the passel of goblins twenty Urists south, he'll save him. I'd really rather not lose one of my Masons.

1. Build cage in small room
2. Link cage to lever outside room
3. Forbid all unbuilt cages
4. Construct adamantine cage

(Or pull fancy tricks with locked doors and dump/forbid, etc)

5. Build cage trap just outside small room
6. Pull lever
7. ???
8. PROFIT! (And a titan in a shiny adamantine cage)

Evidently, Dorf Philosopher Uristmedes only figured out the Uristmedes screw. And he ran around naked and covered in water, blood, and vomit all the time, so any discoveries made in his 4/7 bathtub went unnoticed by dorf science.

Heh, working on a new mega project where I'm not just making a tower of obsidian but I'm making a castle. Forget that though that's not what I'm here to talk about. I had recently dug into the ug that was on the map... one problem, this is an undead map. The river is PACKED with skeletal and undead creatures of all sort who commence climbing up the stairs I had accidentally built all the way down to the waters edge. Thanks to the way I had set up my starting party I had five talented miners ready to fight off the horde. In the end twenty undead had been slain and strewn across the top end of the stairs. Three of the five had a major injury of some sort. Problem is now that they are injured they need water... the only water source I have is the ug which I have sealed off for obvious reasons. Currently trying to get a well built safely and high enough so that the monsters can't reach it but I have a feeling i'm going to be down three useful dwarves fairly soon.

You might not want to gamble it, but if you build the titan cage and then unassign the titan from the cage, a dwarf will run over with a free cage and stick the titan in it.  Just forbid all cages except the one you want and unassign the titan.  I'm pretty sure it's a failproof operation.  At least I've been doing it with camels for a while.
