The elven (yes, yes, I know, but I like all sorts of exotic animals) caravan that arrived in the spring took such a long time to load up their goods and leave, that their yaks gave birth to a yak calf. They haven't departed yet, so it's curious to see, what will happen with this young merchantling.

[EDIT] My squad returned from exploring a ruined monastery. Their bounty? A goblin drunkard that's now asking for sanctuary.

I have seen (maybe BlindIRL?) that a pregnant merchant gave birth while reading in the fort, so then the parents decided to stay and be citizens.  You might see the same thing from the yaks - but since the merchants need the yaks to haul their goods away they might never load up and leave.  Let us know what happens.

You mean a visiting trader or an actual caravan merchant? Why would a merchant be reading in the fortress?

Also, I did have a visiting noble from my own civ give birth to a baby. Didn't pick the baby up, left the fortress and the baby behind after she was done enjoying herself in my tavern. Baby automatically became my citizen upon birth, though I don't know if that's because it was born in my fortress or if the fact her mother was from my civ had anything to do with it.

Baby's grown up a bit now, and the mother still occasionally visits.

A dwarf released a demonic cobra from its prison. After some careful work, the snake was manipulated into entering the caverns, solving two problems. The wounded snake is currently resting on a mound of about 250 antpeople corpses.

People got their risk assessment neurons rotten and replaced with game theory. Folks walk around like fat turkeys taunting the world to slaughter them.

BlindIRL is a famous DF YouTuber and streamer - not a reference to the merchants reading skills.  And it was the mercenaries protecting the caravan.  The caravan left, but the new citizens stayed.

It might have been a different YouTuber instead.

we had an undead siege arrive, full of (oddly enough) kobold forlorn stalkers.. turns out they retain the ability to pick locks and simply WALKED RIGHT THROUGH THE LOCKED DOOR. I just about spat out my coffee....

Summer of Year 14 since the foundation of Endvaults, the gobbos lay siege upon my fortress once again. Finally, I was able to actually use my ballistae properly! Previous attempts had the operators panicking because I placed it too close to the battle lines, or the arrow shooting into nothing because the gobbos were already crippled and weren't standing, or their numbers were simply too thinned out to make it worthwhile. One gobbo had the most terrible misfortune to get hit by two different arrows; most victims either lose their ability to stand or die on the spot after one hit, but this particular gobbo lost both arms as the arrow went through it. With no weapon or shield, it kept marching while blood gushed out of the stumps where its arms had been severed, into the path of another ballista and once again an arrow went through its torso like butter but still left it standing. However, it didn't get far as it soon got turned into roadkill by a runaway platinum cart. Glorious.

I dug into the cavern and the wildlife seems to want to annoy me more than anything.

One of my human mercenaries fell asleep during a training session. While asleep, she grew more attached to a masterwork bronze shield that she had equipped. Shortly after, I got a message that she named the shield Mogsutkamca, The Brutal Dreams.

Sent my whiny Outpost Liaison with 5 other nuisances to conquer a gobbo dark pit. Only one stayed in the newly conquered site, the rest migrated(?) elsewhere around the world. As a bonus, apparently visiting nobles will conduct meetings in an unassigned office room if one is available instead of conducting it in dining halls (I've got that annoying bug where diplomats meet with visiting nobles instead of the fortress noble), so now they conduct meetings in the vacant liaison's office.

after two dead dwarves and almost a year of effort, I've captured a number of pirahnas from the river (via cage traps) and contained them in a holding pool. They are now breeding. mwahahaha

1200-year old, clinically insane zombie shows up to my fortress in its second year, walks up to the rim of the volcano, and jumps in.

Got a little too bored and overestimated my military by sending it after this visiting monster hunter. The hunter died... at the cost of 14 dwarves. Never bring a XXpig tail capXX and training axe to a sword fight.

Playing a fort for the first time in years.

Library filled with giant skunks. Scholar dead in the river outside as he was too dumb to not path over ice. Armless military veteran gathering fruit from trees somehow. Tavern bard followed everywhere by his horde of giant parrots. Goblin tourists starting drunken fistfights. Hammerer executing petty criminals with an artifact iron warhammer. A mayor obsessed with grates. Giraffe men mercenaries. So much gold it's my primary building material.

I have missed this.

A visiting noble was stumbling obliviously after years of neglecting to fulfill his needs. Unfortunately for my citizens, he was stumbling around too close to the open pits of my magma forges; my smiths and haulers complained about the smoke.

edit:
A few weeks later, the fortress was besieged by an army of dorfs under the command of a handful of gobbos.
One invader fell onto some spikes, broke a few limbs and lost consciousness. Later, another invader dodges a trap, falls into the pit and slams into the unconscious invader, slamming her further into the spikes. The dodger was unharmed, at least, until he climbed out of the pit.

Any idea how to use dfhack to spawn angels?

I've used it to spawn clowns with no problem with DEMON_8 or whatever the corresponding number is

But this doesn't seem to work with the Angel tags of DIVINE_4 or whatever their corresponding number is
