I just modded in a magic system. Technically, this isn't in my fort but...

Testing it right now.

EDIT:

Not quite working, isn't creating the item it's supposed to...

EDIT:

Works now!

WHY DID YOU HAVE ME KICK THEM WTF I DID NOT WANT TO BE SHOT AT.
I dunno, you guys have survived Thomas the tank engine, golems, zombies, nuclear explosions, laser whales, and being on the same team as ragnarock.  I don't think something as tame as a world ending rain of lava will even slow you guys down.

Too long to quote normally

Because the Geneva Convention does not exist in DF.

Anyway I have a perplexing Elephant related event, I captured 3 elephants and trained them to be my military force for the early two years, which worked against my mad Clothier, but last year once of them gave birth. The problem is this, all 3 elephants are female and none can get in from the outside through my solid ring of cage traps. Have Animal Trainers perfected IV?

Nah, a random male wild elephant showed up and impregnated them all via spores.  Technically anything that gives birth that you've tamed gives birth to tamed creatures, no matter if half of your animal pair is wild.

If you accidentally lock the elves in the depot and wait until they're insane to capture them in cages and then lock the next group of elves in the depot and unleash the insane elves from their cages, that's still somehow your fault.

Spores make sense, I thought there was some proximity thing involved but meh.

Everything reproduces via spores.

EVERYTHING.

This is going on in my fort.

Urist McArchitect: What a nice day for building roads!

Smuxu McGoblin: Okay guys, be careful now and stick to the plan: we quietly move behind the dwarfs outside, cutting them off from the fortress entrance, and then...

Oso McCyclops: MY NAME IS OSO MC CYCLOPS! TREMBLE BEFORE MY WRATH!

Urist McArchitect: Aaah! Run! Close the gates! Activate the military!

Smuxu McGoblin: ...

I'm running a new fort with Genesis, and I've just finished my protective wall.

Now to put the traps in and turn wasters immigrants back on.

Not sure if that counts as a mega project?  A mini-mega project perhaps.  Over 3000 Marble Blocks in the wall!

I'll go ahead and say that's pretty neat. Now just build a slightly smaller 50 z-level channel inside of it, and do something with it. Like make a bridge leading toward the middle...

I wish I had that problem. However, as I'm thinking more and more about it, I have incredible amounts of bituminous coal (seriously, it's everywhere on this map), so I may give up on the magma forges for a while until I have more support in the mining department (only two legendary miners out of 60 dwarfs). I may end up making that epic pump stack later though, since it'd be dwarfy.

Uh, why you would like the second-worst metal in the game?

Go for bronze~!

I just discovered a great way to make use of my caged goblin armies. I drop them down a pit into the underworld to fight the clowns and other creatures down there. Over time they are weakened and hurt (and dozens of goblins and their mounts meet their deaths) and my own military can move in and finish them off.

Can't believe I didn't think of this before! Plus it's entertaining to see hordes of gobbos desperately trying to fight the things from the deeps, with predictable results.

Well iron may be used for Steel, and I have no Tin , so I can't make Bronze.  I made around 700 Large Serated Copper Discs whilst training my Weaponsmith to Legendary, so I imagine those will get me plenty of Goblinite for use in my Steel forges!

Ah, yes, Steel.

I always forget about that metal.

So I used Perfect World and made a world I liked, took a volcano near a brook and decided to do a flooding thing. 5 of my original guys die. I go crap, decide to etch out a fort anyways. One goes beserk. Summer hits. Brook is filling with magma. This does nothing to help me. Migrants arrive. After the third one gets in, my original expedition leader, the only living person from the first seven left, goes beserk. I go Oh, SHIT that was close.
