Honestly they are the best diplomats around.

I mean when was the last time one of YOUR full time cheesemakers did something other than socialize in the meeting hall?  A couple years of that and they make great politicians.

Abandoned my previous fort, but it survived on and is now another part of our country's territory.  I mostly did this to see if the king/liason will be regenerated as well as if I can get a barony with this fort...if not, I imagine I'll have to scrap it and start on a new world.

Do you always look at it in ASCII?

You get used to it, I don't even see the ASCII.  All I see is blacksmith, miner, goblin.

Fifth or sixth attempt at Armok's Magnetic Anomaly-1 now. After that I'll just have to find a glitched region with a couple of thousand z-leves of sky (around 155000 o_O) to build Armok's Magnetic Anomaly-2. :P

NEW RECORD!  [/Super Smash Bros Voice]

Now someone has to beat it by embarking directly on top of a volcano.

If you accidentally lock the elves in the depot and wait until they're insane to capture them in cages and then lock the next group of elves in the depot and unleash the insane elves from their cages, that's still somehow your fault.

a couple people embarked next to a volcano that was directly on top of a bottomless pit in 40d, the volcano/pit combo caused a MASSIVE EXPLOSION that ended their fort within 4 seconds of unpausing, much faster than drowning/the new (sometimes)slower-acting magma could ever do them in.

It wasn't explosion. Magma tried to appear on top of it's 'tube' and because there was no boundaries around, it flooded to the sides, or shorter: onto dwarves.

One of Dwarfs got ripped in two by a crocodile when chasing a Goblin snatcher, because I forgot to equip him with some of the armour I traded for.

I did get my revenge though by killing the 10 crocodiles on the map.

Massive Tantrum Sprial. Lots of FUN. I started it because my fps was too slow. It will be interesting to see if anyone survives. My population was 195.

Hmm. Well, I've just finished mining and collecting a MASSIVE deposit of ore, stone and gems. Then I plan to finish building the necessities, such as farms, workshops, bedrooms etc. and then I'll work on forges, smelters and getting my military up and running.

My fort is going to explode in gore very, very soon.

I'm being ambushed by elves AND goblins, at the same time. The invaders list stretches on for four or five pages, and the elves brought a crapload of war animals: horses, alligators, crocodiles, tigers, lions, cheetahs, jaguars, elephants. The goblins didn't bring anything, but they sure aren't helping. If I didn't know any better, I'd say this was a true siege.

I only have nine or ten military dwarves. Half of them are dead or dying.

Curse all friends of nature.

On the plus side, I figured out how to deal with that annoying "cancels rest: interrupted by enemy" spam, by turning off all cancellation announcements. Makes things a heck of a lot easier to keep track of.

Mason just secretive mooded.

I also just noticed my mayor who banned export of shields after mandating the construction of them has the last name Shieldfrenzies.

Can't you also damn rivers by causing a wall to drop into the water via cave-in?
I figured you could always damn a river by channeling out it out all the way into Hell.
