I made a new world and fort to test resurrection interactions. I wanted everyone to die, so I dug down to the HFS. It turns out all the demons that came out of the hole were made of steam. I now have a bunch of steam limbs and seven near-legendary wrestlers.

That didn't do what I wanted at all.

Leave it to you to fail at failing. o3o

It worked the second time around, but I forgot to test for whether reviving multiple parts of the same creature crashes the game. So there's going to be a third time.

Dwarf Fortress: the game where you can lose at deliberately losing.

Damn, magma crabs are really scary in 0.34.
My dwarves tried to build floors over a magma tube and several of them ended up dead. I found several "craters" on the newly constructed floors, it appeared they were bombarded from above. But the crabs could only shoot from below the magma surface, does that the molten rocks flew in arcs?

------

Ah, crap, there's an vampire among us! It must be very thirsty to attack a sleeping hammerdwarf  in the public dormitory.

They're even worse now though. Before it was solid rock that'd hurt, instead of lighting you on fire. :V

Correction:

The victim was a macedwarf.

I found the vampire eventually, he was a hammerdwarf. He had a wife, who was a normal dwarf.  He had only 1 friend (a dwarven child).
Odd, I thought vampires usually have high social or militery skill levels?

Dwarves are morons.

I ordered a bag of seeds that was in the way of the construction of a trade depot to be hauled away. Well guess what, all dwarves dash at the bag, take out a single seed, and haul it away. They left the fucking bag alone.

Again, dwarves are morons.

The best way to demonstrate it to him is take a save of 40 year old fortress with 150 dwarves in it on a good sized embark with a volcano that just breached the circus and install it on his gaming rig and watch it bring his rig to its knees.

Dwarves are playing musical chairs with stepladders and starving on trees. built a stair near each trunk, don't know if that'd really work but it seems so

Just noticed:

Dwarf civ: the decent merchants
Human civ: the nation of swimming
Goblin civ: the torment of braids
Elf civ: the volcano of planks

Not inherently. They have social & military skill levels commensurate with how long they've lived. A young vampire won't be remarkable in any way.

my dwarves a struggling on a langur attack.  ::)
those pesky monkeys siege our main entry and they don't have any defenses yet.
it seems one of them finally died after days of fighting while blood splattered all over the place from their open arteries.
i got the impression that local wildlife has become a lot more willing to fight over nothing.

after a month of fighting agaisnt the langurs, we won, but they come back every year.
i facepalmed sooo hard, when i found that channelign my moat opened the undergroudn farm - i only found out by chance and before that, i was shocked to find cave crocodiles attacking my dorfs.
all that took place during a langur siege, so it took the dorfs half a year to close the leak.
once the brook freezes, i'll open it to fill the moat when it thaws again. hopefully no more langur attacks.
