Accidents happened when the dwarves were trying to remove some stairs, stupid.
I lost another two miners. Now I had to train some peasants to replace them...

Playing a bit more atm, which is nice. Tried out my dwarven music playlist. Sadly only 15 minutes long, I need more songs.

Any recommends? I sometimes like dwarf-themed music.

The last one stands out a bit too much, too cheesy.

I was so excited that 42.06 saw the exported wealth bug fixed, and after transferring a save, had my first human caravan in a 15-year-old fort.  I was excited mainly that they might bring seeds for blade weed and some above-ground fibre plant, since I grow the other dyes and want to supplement the pig tails.

Alas, no blade weed... they did bring a single bag of cotton seeds, but I guess because of the biome I can't plant it.  Do human and elven caravans not bring plants and seeds anymore?

so wanted to see if adventurer birds can hatch kids or something lead to my entire fort building walls and ramps next to every tree. just to prevent the bird adventurers from jumping into the tree and getting stuck.
this means dwarves can only get themselves out of a tree if you build a stairwell
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
if I have to chop down a tree to save a dwarf, I build a bridge on the Z level where they are so that when the tree is gone they don't go falling to their doom.
those are walls that I use as makeshift floors so I can just build 2 things than 3. usually the bird folks just jump down after seeing a floor and a ramp next to a tree.

Had a minor brawl in my tavern. My mason went up against my two miners. Mason ended up with a compound fracture in his arm. Or actually, not so much *in* his arm, it being a compound fracture.  :o

New rule in my fortress: If the miners get drunk and start claiming that theirs is the most important profession in the fortress, just nod and agree with them.

I must say, I find your group name far funnier then the image.

We have a rich tradition of percussion instruments as well, all of which are based around a musician smacking variously sized hollow rocks.
It was quite brutal actually. Who knew you could suffer major head trauma from undergarments?

Hmmm, ever since I finished setting up my magma smelters/forges, my dwarves haven't had much reason to go outside much lately. I decided I was getting tired of cancellation due to not having fruit for brewing (the stuff I buy from the caravans just doesn't last long enough), so I decided to take advantage of the cherry and persimmon trees growing just outside the front gate and set up a fruit gathering zone.

A bunch of herbalists ran out to start work, and I took a look at what was there:

Parsnip plants, parsnip leaves
Cherry leaves
Cherry flowers
Cherries
A pile of vomit

"Hey Urist, this batch of cherry wine takes a bit different..."
"Yeah, the cherries were marinated in, um, a secret ingredient."
'Well, whatever it was, it's better than the usual recipe."

Speaking of food and plant gathering, my dwarves have more plant stuff than anything else. They are, save a few traded animal parts, mostly vegetarian.

A sad and persistent state that most of all my forts suffer from.

Spoiler: A few invaders (click to show/hide)
(Sorry for the crappy quality. It seems I don't know how to do proper uploads..)

But yeah. This is my first fortress in 42.xx. Just passed the second year and everyone is getting wrecked. This might have something to do with the fact that I haven't found any other metal yet than candy. I've got a few artifacts already with candy stuffed in them, so my fortress wealth has skyrocketed. I was hoping to finally see a human caravan, as the exported wealth bug kept them away, but I fear the near-future of this fortress is going to get a bit grim.. I have only two military squads, half of them fresh recruits with no good weapons or armor.

I guess it was inevitable.
