Just got a high master knife user kobold thief with a superior iron large dagger. He was also a really good dodger, too, I think expert. My respect for the kobolds, which was already high, has been redoubled. He stalemated my number one, dual axe and hammer wielding dwarf for five irl minutes. He even got some good stabs in, and knocked out his teeth, and cut off an ear. Through an iron helmet. Well done little kobold, but sadly, his head now decorates the ground.

This year we got 47 goblins, mundane goblins.

10 sea otters were flash-frozen in the sea. Free meat but they had to dig the corpses.

The second year passes and the Torish infantry grows by 8. Bronze reserves are low.

A mason produces an orthoclase bed, while a carpenter makes a disturbing recreation fo the kobold Jlayrus being killed by Commander Olin. Everyone is boarded, a slender stone prison tower rises, and food is in decent abundance, plentiful thanks to the trees, eggs, and goats. This is supplemented by plentiful and varied wines, shellfish, and potatoes. The enemy has not come for us yet, but it is only a matter of time given our proximity to elven lands.

Torish stands strong.

Three magma crabs somehow jumped into my fort through constructed over magma floor tiles, and killed four dwarves.

I now have a permanently quarantined were-antelope, since he has too many friends to kill off.

Edit: after a number of fatalities, the were-antelope menace has been purged as dictated in the holy books of Id. I have never been so happy to see child-bearing season roll around.

As far as I know, magma crabs can spawn on non-magma tiles. They don't even need an map edge.

A vile force of darkness...
Wait, what happened to the goblins?

Ouch, ice thawned.

My trader insulted the elves again. I checked every item in the trading list, and found a single glove was decorated with crystal glass...

Well, on Galena the 25th a loud sound emerged from the caverns, causing a minor earthquake.

Turns out, weighing several tons doesn't really work out for you, if you are composed of soft organic matter and also like to climb trees.
The dwarves apparently took it as a divine sign and decided to throw a party.

I think it was a fleshy scorpion with a bloated shell, I'm not quite sure. The only thing I know is that it had a lot of legs and a poisonous sting.

Lost an axe lord to a firebreathing rabbit with a snail shell, because he didn't equip the steel shield I assigned him, instead opting for his preferred steel buckler.
